A’ja Wilson Gets Wholesome Surprise From Boyfriend Bam Adebayo After Winning 4th WNBA MVP

Following her historic WNBA MVP win, A'ja Wilson got the perfect surprise before their semifinal clash vs. the Fever.

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has just made WNBA history. A star veteran, Wilson has bagged her fourth MVP award, making her the only player to achieve this feat.

Naturally, Wilson winning the award warranted a celebration. Fans were ecstatic that Wilson was getting her due, many naming her among WNBA GOATs. Of course, Wilson’s loved ones were just as excited for her.

Aces Icon A’ja Wilson Receives Best Surprise As She Wins Another WNBA MVP Trophy

On Sunday, Wilson won her second consecutive and fourth overall WNBA MVP trophy. And while WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert arrived at the Las Vegas facility to deliver the trophy to Wilson, another special surprise awaited the Aces icon.

Along with Engelbert, Wilson’s boyfriend and Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo was present to deliver the trophy to her personally. Wilson was visibly emotional and shaken up, crying as her team, Adebayo and Engelbert, congratulated her.

In fact, Wilson’s teammates were on the 29-year-old, cheering ‘MVP’ as she accepted the trophy. They even snuck up on her with the trophy, Wilson unable to believe that she’s received this honor.

Adebayo was all smiles as he greeted his girlfriend, letting Engelbert do the talking as he handed her the trophy.

Fans seemed just as excited. Some even predicted the Aces to reach the finals and win, Wilson ultimately grabbing the WNBA Finals MVP honor. In fact, one fan even pointed out that if Wilson wins both, she might as well be the WNBA’s Michael Jordan.

She has previously won the award in 2020, 2022, and 2024.

Wilson — averaging 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds this season — became a standout performer by shooting a career-best 42.4% from the three-point line. This showed the veteran’s in-game evolution, making her a viable candidate for a repeat award.

Apart from Wilson, Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier was another possible candidate to win the MVP award.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert Was All Praises for A’ja Wilson

In the same clip, Engerbert took some time to speak about Wilson’s fourth MVP run.

The commissioner was candid in her approach, noting that Wilson has won four awards in her five-year tenure as commissioner.

“Since 2020, when we were in the bubble and I handed you your first one,” Engelbert said. “I’ve admired the way you’ve played. The grace…humility…humor. And just…one of the greatest players to ever play in this league.”

According to Engelbert, the MVP win only solidifies Wilson’s position as a global icon.
That being said, Wilson and the Aces are currently gearing up for their semifinal series against the Indiana Fever. The game is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Nevada.
