What Did Kalen DeBoer Say About Ryan Williams’ Comeback?

Williams’ comeback against unranked Wisconsin validated coach Kalen DeBoer’s patient approach to his recovery. According to On3 Alabama reporter Blake Byler’s recent post, DeBoer praised Williams’ mindset following today’s 38-14 victory.

“He’s just hungry to get back out there and do what he does,” DeBoer said of Williams after the game. “He went back to work, and it was good to see him and Ty [Simpson] connect.”

Williams missed last week’s Louisiana-Monroe blowout while progressing through concussion protocol after suffering the injury late in Alabama’s season opener at Florida State. The wideout made his return count today with five catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns against the Badgers, including a 75-yard reverse flea-flicker touchdown.

DeBoer’s most telling comment captured Williams’ explosive potential. “Good to see him do his thing. He’s crazy explosive with the ball in his hands,” the second-year ‘Bama leader said.

What Did Kalen DeBoer Say About Ty Simpson’s Leadership?

Alabama’s starting quarterback also drew high marks from his head coach. According to Blake Byler’s social media posts, DeBoer praised Simpson’s development and leadership.

“I think he’s risen to the occasion,” DeBoer said of Simpson after today’s win. “We challenged him last week a little bit, and I like where his head is at.”

Simpson threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns in the victory over Wisconsin, marking his best performance as Alabama’s starting quarterback.
