Oregon State vs. Texas Tech Prediction
Texas Tech is a heavy favorite at home against Oregon State after scoring 60-plus points in both opening games of the 2025 college football season. Meanwhile, Oregon State sits at 0-2 while still searching for its first win of the season.
The Red Raiders have dominated their opening two games of the season. However, as a ranked team, the Big 12 contenders were expected to dominate against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Kent State, respectively. Joey McGuire’s side ranks third nationally, averaging 604.5 yards per game offensively, with quarterback Behren Morton providing a steady, controlling presence.
The defense has also been solid, ranking 19th nationally with an 86.21 PFSN College DEFi grade in Week 2.
Despite losing 36-27 to Fresno State last week, Oregon State’s offense showed signs of promise, outperforming Fresno State 528 yards to 318 on offense. Quarterback Maalik Murphy received an 81.8 (B-) PFSN College QBi grade despite two turnovers, while running back Anthony Hankerson and wide receiver Taz Redricks both ranked 13th at their respective positions in Week 2.
That offers little consolation for Trent Bray, who is 5-9 in his tenure as Beavers head coach. Oregon State’s season-opening struggles can be summed up by their catastrophic special teams meltdown in Week 2.
The Beavers surrendered 10 points with less than a minute on the clock after long snapper Dylan Black was sidelined with an injury. It led to six botched special teams snaps, prompting Bray to use colorful language to describe his team’s performance.
Those errors were costly in Week 2 and will prove even more damaging if repeated Saturday.
For the Red Raiders, it’s business as usual. They may not score 60 points for a third consecutive weekend, but Week 3 represents the real start of Texas Tech’s 2025 season before Big 12 play begins.
