Early Life and Upbringing

Adyn was born on March 14, 2021, marking Townsend’s shift from solo athlete to devoted mom. From the start, the American has been open about the joys and challenges of parenting while playing on tour. She chose to keep details about Adyn’s father private, focusing instead on life with her son. Adyn began attending Pre-K in early 2025, where he settled in quickly and made new friends. During summer camp, Townsend addressed a bullying incident, teaching Adyn to stand up for himself and to tell teachers if he ever felt unsafe.

At home, Adyn follows a gentle routine that Townsend often shares on social media. He recites simple daily affirmations, practices short prayers, and learns to say “thank you” and “please” as part of his school work and play. Townsend says these habits help him grow with kindness and respect. Even at his young age, Adyn shows curiosity, he loves drawing tennis courts on paper and pretending to hit the ball just like his mom.

Adyn’s Support for Taylor Townsend at the US Open

When Townsend stunned fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva in the third round of the 2025 US Open, she revealed the deeper meaning behind her win, stating:

“I want to dedicate this win to my son, AJ. He’ll be here tomorrow. He was telling his teachers at school, ‘I’m going to New York to see my mom.'”

Before leaving for the tournament, Townsend shared a tender goodbye video with Adyn. She told him, “Be great in school. Be respectful, thankful, and grateful. Say your affirmations and prayers.” In return, Adyn replied, “I’m gonna miss you too, mommy.” Townsend said that hearing him cheer from the stands gives her extra energy in long matches.

On the court at Flushing Meadows, Townsend not only plays singles but also doubles alongside Kateřina Siniaková. The American-Czech duo is the top-seeded pair of women’s doubles at the US Open, who just defeated Alycia Parks/Dayana Yastremska in the second round. Townsend became the first mother on tour to achieve the World No. 1 ranking in doubles, and the pair has won the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, 2025 Australian Open, and 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships together.

Townsend will have her son cheering her on as she takes on Barbora Krejčíková for a place in the US Open quarterfinals.
