Dallas Cowboys fans are holding their breath as the contract dispute between star defensive end Micah Parsons and owner Jerry Jones continues to unfold. Instead of preparing with his team, Parsons has been a spectator on the sidelines, a frustrating sight for a fanbase with championship aspirations.
As the standoff in Dallas drags on, speculation about his future is heating up. The possibility of Parsons wearing a different uniform was even floated to one of the NFC’s other elite pass rushers, Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.
Could Micah Parsons Actually End Up in Detroit?
Hutchinson, who is making his return after fracturing his fibula and tibia in a Week 6 game during the 2024 NFL season, appeared on the “Up & Adams Show” with host Kay Adams on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Toward the end of the interview, Adams presented a hypothetical scenario: Parsons playing for the Lions.
“What’d you just say? Micah in a Lions uniform? Is that the rumors going around?” Hutchinson asked. When Adams confirmed it was a topic of conversation, Hutchinson expressed his doubts but acknowledged the appeal. “There’s no way. I don’t know, man. I mean it’d be great to play with him, don’t get me wrong. I think he’s going to get his deal. It’d be a dangerous combo if we were together.”
Adams pushed the idea further, suggesting, “He’s going to go somewhere in the NFC North, and I was curious. You know, you two together would be a pretty in-sync thing.”

“Oh he’s gone?” Hutchinson replied, before Adams clarified, “No, we don’t know. The story is still unwritten.”
Hutchinson concluded the exchange by reiterating both his excitement about the potential pairing and his belief that a deal will get done in Dallas. “Trust me, it’d be a dangerous combo if we were together,” he said. “I think he’ll get his deal done.”
Why Is Parsons Facing So Much Criticism?
While Hutchinson can dream about that defensive line duo, Parsons has been drawing criticism for his actions during his holdout. The issue arose during the Cowboys’ final preseason game, a 31-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Though present on the Dallas sidelines, cameras caught Parsons lying down on a table during the game. The optics were not great, as it appeared to some that Parsons, who already has 52.5 sacks in his young career, was disengaged from the team. While some observers claimed he was asleep, subsequent statements disputed that interpretation.
Parsons has not participated in on-field activities during training camp as he waits for a new contract offer from Jones. The ongoing dispute has become a major storyline for the Cowboys, but Jones has publicly stated that he doesn’t mind any type of attention on his team.
Still, Dallas fans hope a resolution comes soon. Time is ticking, with the season opener against the rival Philadelphia Eagles scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2025. That matchup is on national television, and it’s difficult to imagine Parsons would want to miss that spotlight.
