‘She’s Out for the Season’ – Fever Fans Lose Hope of Caitlin Clark’s Injury Return Before WNBA Playoffs

Fever fans face heartbreak as Caitlin Clark is ruled out for the season, ending hopes of a return before the WNBA playoffs.

The 2025 WNBA season for the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark was filled with hope of a successful regular season, a deep playoff run, and possibly a championship at the end of the season. But this season has been plagued by injuries throughout the roster. The Fever lost Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham, and Aari McDonald to season-ending injuries in the past two weeks.

While Clark has been absent for most of the season, the team currently sits in a playoff spot despite the circumstances. With the season winding down and still no timetable for Clark’s return, fans have started to see the writing on the wall and believe she may be joining the list of injured Fever players who are out for the season.

What Fans are Saying About Caitlin Clark’s injury With No Return in Sight

Fever hopes their superstar point guard will return to the lineup sometime this season. Clark has been nursing a right groin injury that occurred on July 15. This injury ruled her out of the All-Star Game in Indianapolis and has caused her to miss the past 15 games and counting.

During a media session after practice on August 20, Fever coach Stephanie White spoke to reporters and indicated no update. “Until she can get into practice, and until you guys see her in practice, it’s really status quo, same as we have been”, White said.

This caused Fever fans to uproar and suggest she may be done for the season. @CC22Tour, a Clark fan account, posted on X, “Thanks for the update. Time is running out soon. Waiting is excruciating, but probably worse for CC. There’s a conspiracy she’s not returning this season.”

Many users shared the same sentiment: one user stated, “People need to realise that she’s not coming back this season.”

While another fan simply said, “She’s done for the season.”

@Leighlew3 gave a detailed response on X writing, “Pretty wild that she’s still not practicing. It’s been five weeks since [the] injury. Smh. If they’re gonna try to throw her in ice cold with like three games left or even just save her for the playoffs that is about the dumbest thing they could do, IMO. I give up.”

Is it Possible Caitlin Clark Misses the Rest of the Season?

The Fever are racing against the clock to have Clark return to the court before the regular season concludes on September 9. With Clark not even practicing yet, it seems like she still needs to be completely healed from this injury to begin jogging, running, or playing five-on-five in practice.

Before suffering her right groin injury, Clark also missed games earlier in the season due to a left groin strain and hamstring pull. With so many soft tissue injuries, the Fever could be taking a very slow approach with their superstar, not to rush her back, risking further damage to her body.

The Fever (19-16) is sixth in the WNBA standings, with nine games on its schedule. They hold a one-game lead over the Golden State Valkyries and a 2.5-game cushion over the ninth-place Los Angeles Sparks. With Kelsey Mitchell playing at an elite level amid Clark’s absence, they should be one of the top eight teams that head into the WNBA playoffs.
