How Will Jannik Sinner Prepare for His Cincinnati Open Return?

In his last appearance, Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz 4–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 in the men’s final to win his first Wimbledon title and his fourth Grand Slam overall. The Italian lost the first set but rallied to win the next three, ending Alcaraz’s 24-match win streak and his perfect Grand Slam finals record.

He also became the first Italian to hold the Wimbledon singles trophy, avenging his loss to Alcaraz at the French Open five weeks earlier, where he had held match points but lost in five sets. After the victory, the Italian decided to take a well-deserved break by the Mediterranean and withdrew from the ongoing Masters 1000 event in Canada.

However, the holiday has now ended as the world No. 1 was recently seen practicing on hard courts in Monte Carlo. A video of his practice session was shared on Instagram by one of the fan pages, with a caption that said:

“After returning from vacation, Jannik Sinner returned to Monte Carlo a few days ago to begin his hard-court preparations for next week’s Cincinnati Open.”

Another glimpse of his practice session was shared by ATP pro Matteo Berrettini who posted a selfie alongside Sinner. “Step by step with the best,” his caption said.

Sinner is looking forward to defending his title at the upcoming US Open, which he won by defeating Taylor Fritz in the finals.

What Sparked Sinner’s Recent Coaching Team Changes?

Sinner’s victory at Wimbledon came after a series of changes in his coaching team. The Italian parted ways with his fitness trainer Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio before initiating his Wimbledon campaign. While he was clear about having no specific reason behind firing his teammates, he dropped a major hint about a lack of communication within the circle.

“I will also look for people who are suitable for the other people on the team, communication is important for the group to function, you have to trust. We spend a lot of time together all year round, it’s important to find the right people,” he said.

As a replacement, Sinner rehired Umberto Ferrara before Wimbledon to back him amid the revenge showdown against Alcaraz. He now looks forward to defending the US Open title, starting his preparation with the upcoming event in Cincinnati.
