How Does Olympia Ohanian Steal the Show in Her Father’s Heartfelt Video?

Ohanian has long been open about how fatherhood has changed his life. His journey as a “girl dad” began in 2017 when he and Serena Williams welcomed their first daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

The couple, who met in 2015 and tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in New Orleans in 2017, expanded their family again in August 2023 with the birth of their second daughter, Adira River. Over the years, Ohanian has often shared glimpses of his father-daughter moments on social media, giving fans insight into their close bond.

In his latest video posted on X, Ohanian begins by responding to a question: “Someone asked me, what are some of your favorite parts about being a girl dad?” Before he can elaborate, Olympia, sitting nearby, enthusiastically cuts in with, “It’s fun.”

Ohanian then goes on to describe the joys of raising daughters, saying, “It’s the best. It is amazing because I get to see what the world is like through the eyes of little girls. It’s full of craziness and keep me busy and active. All of my girls are so kind to me. They’re always being so nice to their papa. And I appreciate that.”

As he muses that boys might not be quite as sweet, Olympia hilariously interrupted again, saying, “No way.” Ohanian ends the clip by reflecting on how being a girl dad has made him more empathetic, adding, “I think it makes me just a better businessman.”

What Does Ohanian Want to Teach Olympia and Adira About Thriving in an AI World?

Beyond the lighter moments, Ohanian has expressed deeper concerns about preparing his daughters for the future. The Reddit co-founder emphasized the rising importance of emotional intelligence in an AI-driven world, focusing on teaching Olympia and Adira the human qualities machines can’t replicate.

In a post on X, he noted that as AI takes over more tasks, people may gain more time to enjoy life’s deeper, more meaningful moments. However, this shift also means parents need to rethink what skills truly matter for the next generation.

“The world we’re entering now is one where thankfully raw intelligence is gonna be commoditized. The things that are gonna matter, the things I care about teaching my kids are less about capital I intelligence. Again that’s gonna be a commodity. You’re gonna be able to find the answer for anything. You’re gonna have a PhD level brain at your beck and call whenever you have a question about something,” Ohanian said.

“I want to make sure that she (his kids) understands and has agency, that she has a kind of creativity, that she has a kind of empathy. That emotional intelligence, I think, exactly going to be a lot more valued. Taste is going to be even more valuable. There are still going to be realms where humans will need to be excellent,” he added.
