After enduring a hard-fought semifinal loss at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic was recently seen relaxing in the picturesque location of Croatia’s Korčula Island. The 24-time Grand Slam title winner looked carefree and cheerful as he holidayed with wife Jelena, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, and Croatian soccer stars Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić.
Recapping Novak Djokovic’s Strong Run at Wimbledon 2025
Djokovic’s Croatian getaway follows his 20th bid at the All England Club, where he was denied an eighth Wimbledon title. Djokovic had a solid run through the draw, defeating Alexandre Müller, Dan Evans, and countryman Miomir Kecmanović, before upsetting No. 11 seed Alex de Minaur and No. 22 Flavio Cobolli.
His run was stopped in the semifinals by Italy’s Jannik Sinner, who defeated Djokovic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, en route to winning his first Wimbledon crown.
Djokovic seemed to take the disappointment in stride, opting to pass some time along the Adriatic coast before getting back into work for the North American hard-court swing. Images that emerged on the internet capture the Serbian superstar in a relaxed mood, smiling with Čeferin, Modrić, and Kovačić. As a gesture, Djokovic even presented the two Croatian midfielders with signed t-shirts.

Djokovic Reveals Post-Match Apology from Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon
Speaking to the press after his semifinal defeat, Djokovic reflected on a heartfelt moment he shared with Sinner at the net. “He [Sinner] apologized for me feeling bad today,” Djokovic told reporters. “There’s nothing to apologize for from his side. Obviously, he’s done very well for himself today, and for the last year and a half, he’s been the best player in the world.”
Djokovic also wished Sinner good luck before his first-ever Wimbledon final. The top-seeded Italian had a commanding path to the title, beating Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic, Pedro Martínez, 19th seed Grigor Dimitrov, 10th seed Ben Shelton, and seven-time champion Djokovic, before exacting revenge on Carlos Alcaraz in the final, weeks after losing to him in the Roland Garros final.
Djokovic recently withdrew from the 2025 National Bank Open in Toronto (Jul. 27-Aug. 7). He is now likely to resume action at the Cincinnati Open as he readies himself for the US Open.
