‘Stop Talking… It’s Time To Grow Up’ – Analyst Rips WNBA Players for Bashing ‘Golden Goose’ Caitlin Clark

Colin Cowherd blasts Kelsey Plum after her remarks about Caitlin Clark and her team skipping the WNBA All-Star meeting.

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game sparked controversy when Kelsey Plum’s postgame comments about Caitlin Clark went viral across social media. The Las Vegas Aces guard called out Clark’s All-Star team for missing a morning meeting where players decided to wear “Pay us what you owe us” t-shirts during warmups. What started as team unity quickly turned into public drama that had everyone talking.

Why Did Colin Cowherd Slam WNBA Players Over Caitlin Clark?

During the postgame press conference, Plum made her feelings clear about the missing teammates. “The t-shirt, this united front, was determined this morning, for which we had a meeting. And not to tattletale, but zero members of Team Clark were very present for that.”

Sabrina Ionescu, sitting next to the Las Vegas Aces guard, visibly looked uncomfortable and offered her opinion, “Not really needed to be mentioned.”

On “The Herd”, Cowherd delivered a fiery response when discussing Plum’s comments. “The projection for the WNBA going forward and the current momentum are really really good. So the t-shirts don’t bother me,” Cowherd said.

However, he took issue with targeting the league’s biggest star. “But why do you take a shot at the Golden Goose? Caitlin Clark. You guys were flying before she arrived on one of those airlines that made you pay for a cup of water. One of those airlines that the planes are the color of a highlighter. Now you’re flying private,” he added.

“You went from a Motel 6 in a sketchy part of town to a Four Seasons in the shopping district,” Cowherd continued, referencing Clark’s star power and the impact it’s had on the league. In two simple words, Cowherd let it be known what the rest of the players should do. “Stop talking.”

What Was the Real Story Behind Plum’s Comments?

Social media erupted with reactions to Plum’s public callout of the Indiana Fever superstar and the rest of her All-Star teammates. Cowherd has been a strong defender of Clark’s, consistently noting how the league transformed once she arrived in 2024-25.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne provided important context to Plum’s comments. She posted on her X account, “I thought it was fairly obvious Kelsey Plum tried to make a joke that didn’t land. The meeting where players decided to wear the shirts was at 8:30 am on Saturday.”

She continued, “Understandable that not many from Team Clark made it after what we saw on Stud Budz from the night before,” referring to the WNBA players’ Friday night outing, which was streamed by Minnesota Lynx players Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman.

The Clark-Plum dynamic appears to be intensifying beyond this incident. A video from last year’s All-Star Game resurfaced, showing Plum aggressively picking up Clark full court. If this indicates what’s to come, these two stars will continue their rivalry for years. The next time Clark and Plum face each other will be when the Fever visits the Sparks on August 10 in Los Angeles.
