Jannik Sinner Reveals Iga Świątek Persuaded Him To Embrace Wimbledon Tradition Before Pair’s Viral Dance Together

After their Wimbledon triumphs, Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek shared a charming off-court moment that added a special touch to their celebrations.

Jannik Sinner recently revealed that fellow Wimbledon champion Iga Świątek was the driving force behind their participation in one of the tournament’s most treasured off-court traditions, the Champions’ Dance.

While the two Grand Slam winners were initially told the performance wasn’t necessary due to the late hour, Świątek insisted they honor the ritual, ultimately convincing Sinner to step onto the dance floor.

Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek Shine at the Champions’ Ball

Held on the final Sunday evening of The Championships, the Champions’ Ball has long been a celebratory staple at Wimbledon. Traditionally, it brings together the newly crowned men’s and women’s singles winners, along with champions from other categories, for an evening, away from the intensity of Centre Court.

Both Sinner and Świątek earned their maiden Wimbledon singles titles this year, making their joint appearance at the ball even more special.

Sinner arrived in a classic black suit, crisp white shirt, and matching tie. As the top seed, the Italian outclassed a formidable field, taking out Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic, Pedro Martínez, 19th seed Grigor Dimitrov, 10th seed Ben Shelton, and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, before avenging his Roland Garros defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Świątek, meanwhile, stunned spectators with a dominant run that culminated in a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Anisimova in the championship match. Dressed in a pearl blue Stella McCartney satin gown, the Polish star celebrated her sixth career Major and her first on grass, ending a year-long title drought.

After the event, a now-viral video showed Sinner and Świątek laughing and enjoying a dance together at the Champions’ Ball.

The delightful dance moment came to light when the BBC shared a behind-the-scenes video where Sinner opened up about how it all came together.

“Yes, I mean, we were there and in the beginning they told us that we, because it was quite late, that we don’t have to do it,” Sinner said in the clip.

“And then Iga told me, ‘No, no, let’s do it.’ I was like, ‘Okay.’ It’s tradition, so it’s good to make that happen. And yeah, it was nice to share this moment with Iga and it’s, yeah, a beautiful moment.”

Sinner and Świątek’s Next Stops on the Tennis Calendar

With the grass-court season behind them, Sinner and Świątek will begin their hard-court campaigns at the 2025 Canadian Open, which will run from July 27 to August 7. The WTA event will be held in Montreal, while the ATP matches will take place in Toronto.
