Iga Świątek has carved out a slice of Grand Slam history, joining the elite company of Serena Williams and Amélie Mauresmo as one of just three women in this century to make 22 consecutive third-round appearances at Majors.
The five-time Grand Slam champion added this impressive stat to her résumé during her ongoing campaign at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.
Iga Świątek Mirrors Serena Williams and Amélie Mauresmo’s Slam Runs
Williams’ streak began with a fourth-round showing at the 1998 French Open and stretched through 45 consecutive Slams until her shocking first-round exit in Paris in 2012. In that span, she captured 13 of her 23 Major titles.
Mauresmo, too, left her mark with 24 consecutive third-round appearances between Wimbledon 2001 and the 2008 French Open, winning two Grand Slams along the way. For Świątek, who began her streak at the 2019 US Open, it’s yet another sign of her reliability across surfaces.

Świątek’s consistency was on full display in her early rounds at this year’s Wimbledon. Seeded No. 8, the 24-year-old eased past Russia’s Polina Kudermetova in straight sets in her opener. She then battled back to overcome her former junior doubles partner, Caty McNally, in a second-round clash, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in just under two and a half hours. With the win, she earned a place in the third round once again.

Świątek Set for Tenth Clash With Danielle Collins in Wimbledon Showdown
Up next, Świątek will face familiar rival Danielle Collins in what will be their 10th career meeting. While Świątek holds a commanding 7-2 head-to-head record, Collins claimed victory in their most recent clash at the 2025 Italian Open.
“I haven’t watched any of her games. So, I will need to prepare tactically for sure tomorrow,” Świątek said, when asked about her upcoming matchup against Collins during her post-match press conference.
When asked about the description of Collins’ general form, she replied: “Well, flat hitter, baseline player, solid serve, and likes to be proactive and be aggressive.”
The winner of this match could face either the 23rd seed, Clara Tauson, or the 2022 Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina, in the fourth round.
