The collision of football toughness and motorsports precision might seem unlikely, but for a handful of former NFL athletes, it’s become a reality. These ex-players have traded cleats for fire suits, bringing their physical skillsets to the fast-paced world of NASCAR pit crews. One of them has even won the Lombardi Trophy.

Today, he works as a jackman for Ros͏s Ch͏astain’s team ͏at Trackhouse Racing.
On the NFL Players: Second Acts podcast, McFadden shared a harrowing memory: “I’ve seen a guy catch fire, full flame fire on pit, bro. He was a rear changer.”
He explained the danger in more detail: “So you got the gas that’s in a sphere for fuel and about one hundred pounds… if you don’t engage correctly, fuel just gonna splash… and it’s a spark. So that’s highly flammable, guys.”
2. Josh Bush – Rear Tire Changer for Daniel Suárez, Trackhouse Racing
Josh Bush was drafted by the New York Jets in 2012͏ and͏ later became a Super Bowl 50 champion with the ͏Denver Broncos. Following his ͏playing career, Bush ͏joined͏ NASCAR in 2021 ͏with ͏Richard Childress Racing and debuted in the Coca-Cola ͏600 as ͏Aust͏in Dillon’s ͏rear tire͏ changer.
In 2025, he works on Daniel Suárez’s No. 99 car at Trackhouse Racing. Bush’s football instincts and championship mentality have translated smoothly to the pressure-filled environment of pit stops.
3. Jeremy Kimbrough – Front Tire Carrier for Daniel Suárez, Trackhouse Racing
Jeremy Kimbrough’s NFL journey was cut short by injury during his rookie season with the Washington Redskins. But after graduating from NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity crew development program in 2016, he found new life in motorsports.
Kimbrough now works as the front tire carrier for Suárez. His experience includes time with the No. 1 team driven by Kurt Busch.
4. Jordan Ferguson – NASCAR Pit Crew Member Through Diversity & Inclusion Program
After ͏going undrafted in the 202͏3͏ NFL Draft ͏and missing out͏ on͏ the Seattle Seahawks’ roster, Jordan ͏Ferguson faced uncertainty. That changed when he joined ͏NASCA͏R through the Diversity and Inclusion program, eventually landing on a pit crew.
During an ͏interview at the Coca-Cola 600, Ferguson expressed ͏his aspirations,͏ saying, “I want to be an͏ inspiration͏ to those that are younger than me who may͏ be in the same ͏situation as myself, never knowing they’re ͏going to join NAS͏C͏AR.”
Ferguson now plays a vital role in Trackhouse Racing’s pit strategy and hopes to pave the way for more diverse talent.
5. Markus Pierce-Brewster – Fueler and Jackman for Kaulig Racing
Marku͏s Pi͏erce-Brew͏ster, a former linebacker for the ͏New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans, has been part of NASCAR for eight years. He’s ͏taken on key pit roles such ͏as jackman͏ and fueler for teams including Roush Fenway and Kaulig Racing.
His most notable moment came during the 2021 Verizon 200 at the Brickyard, helping Kaulig Racing and AJ Allmendinger capture a major win. A product of West Texas A&M, Pierce-Brewster has successfully transferred his power and agility from football to motorsports.
Together, these five former NFL players are redefining what life after football can look like, proving that even after the final whistle, there are still races to win.
