Perhaps no team had a more impressive win today than the San Francisco 49ers in their 30-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brock Purdy was efficient throwing the football, connecting with Brandon Aiyuk for two touchdowns, and Christian McCaffrey had a huge day on the ground, rushing for 152 yards.
However, the most impressive unit today for the 49ers was their defense, which didn’t skip a beat from last season. The Steelers’ offense, which looked impressive in the preseason and entered the game with a lot of hype, couldn’t get anything going with just 239 total yards. The Niners also sacked Kenny Pickett five times, including three from Drake Jackson.
The 49ers were favored today and expected to win, but few people expected them to dominate as they did against an up-and-coming Steelers team on the road. After their performance today, how much did the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl odds improve?
San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Odds Update
San Francisco entered the season as one of the top favorites to win the Super Bowl at DraftKings Sportsbook with +1000 odds, the fourth-shortest in the NFL. Now, their odds moved all the way to +475, making them the Super Bowl favorite at DraftKings.
The 49ers also became the favorites to win the NFC, surpassing the Eagles, who entered the day as the favorites to repeat as conference champions. Following their win against the Steelers, their odds moved from +380 to +225 to win the conference.
Perhaps the most notable shift in their futures odds was to win the NFC West. Although they entered the season as the odds-on favorite to win the division at -190, after their dominance over the Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks’ loss at home to the Los Angeles Rams, they’re now -500.
If their dominance carries over into Week 2 in their matchup against the Rams, expect these odds to move even more. That’s especially true if other contenders, like the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals this week, struggle once again.
