NFL Agents Express Concern About 49ers’ Practice Facility As Viral Conspiracy Theory Picks Up Steam

How is the 49ers being affected by the conspiracy circling its facilities? Find out more about the issues that arise around the notorious substation.

There’s a viral conspiracy circling the Bay Area, as many believe an electrical substation next to the San Francisco 49ers’ facilities is weakening the team’s players to the point where they’re more likely to sustain injuries. The conspiracy has been but a joke among players over the years; however, it has recently gained far more traction.

Power Station Conspiracy Could Put 49ers at a Disadvantage in Negotiating Contracts

High-performing NFL teams often have a key advantage when negotiating player and staff contracts: players and coaches want to stay with the team. A team like the LA Rams, which has made it to the playoffs more often than not under head coach Sean McVay, has significant drawing power when it comes to luring high-end talent.

While the 49ers have earned a similar reputation as playoff contenders, rumors of health concerns have raised alarms with players this offseason.

Chat Sports analyst Chase Senior reported on the matter, saying players are asking about the location of the team’s practice field amid concerns about electromagnetic fields around the substation.

“NFL players have started to reach out to their agents about the location of the 49ers’ practice field,” Senior posted on X. “Players have voiced real concerns about EMF and some agents think this might impact the 49ers’ ability to attract or retain free agents. One agent told the Washington Post, he thinks the Niners might have to move their practice field. Another agent has wondered why his clients have taken longer to heal while playing for the 49ers.”

Agents who spoke to The Washington Post demanded anonymity, fearful that the situation might jeopardize negotiations down the line. However, there was a perceived belief that the problem could compromise the 49ers’ ability to negotiate team-friendly deals.

“There is something there,” one agent said. “Always wondered why my guys would take longer to heal [in San Francisco]. Then read this and makes sense.”

It’s important to note that there isn’t much scientific evidence to support this. Doctors have poured cold water on the conspiracy theory.

AthElite’s Trey Robinson reportedly took matters into his own hands, buying an EMF gaussmeter for $39.98 and sending it to a trusted associate near Levi’s Stadium.

“I’m not a scientist,” Robinson said. “But if there’s a way to eliminate something being an issue, we’ll take whatever steps we can to address our clients’ concerns.”

An update on his experiment has yet to surface. However, such independent investigations could play a significant role in shaping public sentiment toward the substation.

If the conspiracy holds water, free agency might get very interesting this offseason.
