Carson Wentz

Few players in the league have the range of outcomes that Carson Wentz does. At the time of his injury in 2017, only Russell Wilson had more fantasy points at the position than Wentz. His return last year wielded vastly different results, however, and he was QB15 during the weeks he was healthy. At his best, he’s an MVP level player with the movement skills to extend plays but if you’re going to live by the sword then beware the second half of the proverb. Wentz could win you your league but pinning all your hopes on him is a dangerous game.

Zach Ertz

Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz, George Kittle. Three players who are widely considered the top tier of tight ends in fantasy football. Ertz has an incredibly high floor, with 70+ receptions and 800+ yards in each of the last four seasons. It was 2018 that saw him join a category of players worth their weight in gold, though – tight ends who put up stats like wide receivers. 116 receptions for 1,163 yards and 8 touchdowns would have been WR12 in standard scoring and WR10 in PPR. Players looking for a competitive advantage could do worse than targeting Ertz in the early rounds.

Alshon Jeffery

Nobody can deny Alshon Jeffery’s talent. His size and speed are a tantalizing combination, and the Eagles are paying him like one of the top receivers in the league. The issue is that he hasn’t had more than 850 receiving yards since 2014 when he was still with the Chicago Bears. Last season was only the second time that he’s had a catch rate higher than 60% in his career, but the real questions are always about his health.

We know that he’s tough and capable of playing through injuries but doing so limits his big-play potential and can end up doing more damage in the long run. Nearly one-third of his yards last season came in two games. The ceiling is undoubtedly high, but the same can be said for the floor.

Sleepers

When it comes to fantasy football, few phrases instill fear quite as much as the dreaded “running back by committee.” Unfortunately, head coach Doug Pederson is a proponent of just that. Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders are the early favorites to lead the team in touches, but Josh Adams, Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood all had roles last year. Sanders is the most versatile and talented RB on the roster, so if anybody is to become a three-down back, it should be him.

DeSean Jackson may be on the wrong side of 30, but he’s still one of the best deep threats around. He led the league in yards per reception last season. We’ve yet to see how involved he will be now that he’s back in Philadelphia, but at his best, he has the potential to win fantasy matchups almost singlehandedly.
