As the 2025 NFL Draft looms, the generational Colorado talent, Travis Hunter, still maintains that he will play both sides of the ball. While some have accomplished this in the past, no one has ever been able to play nearly the entire game, starting on both sides.
As the big day from Green Bay, Wisc., is just over two weeks away, the dual-threat will not back down from saying that he can do this.

Saints Safety Does Not Believe Travis Hunter Can Play Both Ways
Former Kansas City Chiefs starter and two-time Super Bowl champion Justin Reid weighed in on Hunter’s dilemma during a segment on NFL Network.
“I think that he’s well conditioned to do it, but I don’t know if this is something that’s in the best interest of him or the team to take every single snap,” Reid said.

“Just because the speed of the game might be slower, as Deion [Sanders] said, you’re playing against grown men, let’s keep that in mind. But the mental side of the game is far and above so much higher than what college is.”
Reid did not stop there, chipping in with some of his expertise. As the Saints safety continued, he claimed it is just too much to handle, let alone for a rookie just entering the league.
“To handle a defensive playbook and an offensive playbook at the level of depth you need to execute correctly and have an impact on the game, I just don’t see it happening,” Reid said. “Especially for a rookie guy that wants to come in and making sure he’s getting on the field and making impact plays early on. It’d be really difficult.”
Reid concluded by saying that while it would be very difficult to play both positions full-time, perhaps Hunter should not let go of either.
“Do they have a package for him?” Reid questioned. “Do they give him a couple of plays? Yes, I think that they do do that. But for him to be every down on the field, I just think it’d be really difficult.”
Is Hunter a Sure-Fire Top-5 Selection?
As the days have gone on, a significantly higher amount of mock drafts place Hunter in the top three. Earlier, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner was going anywhere from second to ninth. Using PFSN’s 2025 NFL Mock Draft Simulator, the latest trend continues, plotting Hunter at third overall. This gives the Colorado product a spot in East Rutherford, N.J., with the New York Giants.
Hunter would be a splendid fit for the G-<en regardless of which side of the ball he plays. Whether you pair him with the young Malik Nabers or Deonte Banks, Hunter would instantly elevate the level of play wherever he is. Along with that, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson would get the chance to have arguably one of the best wideout duos in the NFL during his latter NFL years.
