Should I Draft Zamir White? Fantasy Outlook for the Raiders’ RB in 2024

Those who don't learn from history repeat it. Are we falling into the offseason trap with another dead zone running back when we draft Zamir White?

    Published on

There is always a new hotness in the NFL offseason each year. This year, that player is Zamir White, a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.

White stormed onto the scene at the end of the year last year, and when you combine that with the fitness pictures he has posted on X, you have a runaway train of hype surrounding this young running back.

Can we trust White this season to help us win our fantasy football championship? Let’s dive into his fantasy outlook and see if we should fade or acquire him in this year’s draft.

Zamir White’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 Season

Last year, White showed us that he could carry the load. In Weeks 15-18, White saw 84 rushing attempts and produced 397 rushing yards and one touchdown.

White was the greatest of them all at a position where “Volume Is King,” with a league-leading 84 carries during that timeframe. He also produced the third-most rushing yards and created the ninth-most first downs of his rushing attempts, with 17 overall.

TruMedia recorded White as the 11th-best running back in that time frame in third down rush conversion percentage.

White is a violent runner with one of the NFL’s best combinations of size and explosiveness. He stands at 6’0″ and weighs 215 pounds. Everything about White on paper makes people excited to draft him in fantasy football.

Is White a Good Fantasy Pick?

We will be fading White in 2024.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat themselves.

It wasn’t too long ago that a running back had a great end of the season, posted a few workout pictures, and his average draft position soared to the moon. His name was Mike Davis.

Did chills just run down your spine? They should have!

White has shades of Davis’ fantasy production within his 2024 outlook. We should be wary of what we draft with this running back at his 67th overall ADP.

White also plays for a Raiders team slated to be the underdog in most games, forcing them to work away from the run-heavy scheme they would like to implement.

This season, the Raiders’ opponents will have tape of White and his young head coach, Antonio Pierce, which will help defenses handle the explosive back better than last year.

White also won’t receive any help in the passing game, as Gardner Minshew doesn’t precisely intimidate defensive coordinators. This lack of a passing game will lead more players in the box to protect against White’s abilities.

We usually love the draft strategy of volume running backs, but the risk outweighs the rewards in this case.

If you decide to draft White, take solace in knowing his bye week is Week 10. It’s still later than we would like, but at least it isn’t in a crucial playoff week.

We suggest you look elsewhere for a running back because we want to draft good players on good teams. The jury is still out on White, and the Raiders are definitely not a good team.
