Defensive end Abdul Carter is regarded as a top contender in the 2025 NFL Draft. But before the selection process, the DE is dealing with a stress reaction in his right foot, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The situation has led to speculation that he might not play in Penn State’s Pro Day.

Abdul Carter on Speculation That He Won’t Play Penn State’s Pro Day
In light of the speculation, pointing out the date of Penn State’s Pro Day, Carter tweeted on Feb. 27:
“You can’t stop GREATNESS! Y’all thought I was going that easy? This just gonna make the movie more interesting! See y’all March 28th🦁 Bring ya popcorn #1 OVERALL PICK ♾, 56 days.. InshaAllah it’s already written.”

At first, Rosenhaus had said surgery could be an option to fix Carter’s foot, which would have meant missing around eight weeks and missing Penn State’s Pro Day as well. But after more medical checks, insider Adam Schefter reported that surgery is not advisable.
Rosenhaus also referred to Carter’s injury, saying: “I couldn’t be more confident that this will be a nonfactor where he’s drafted. He will put on a show at his pro day.”
Meanwhile, Carter’s tweet was a reiteration of what he said to the media on Feb. 26 at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis:
“I feel like I’m the best player in the country and the best player should be picked first. It’s the work I put in with my dad, who trained me, and all the sacrifices I made, I know I’m the best.”
Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft by Marco Enriquez projects Carter to be selected as the No. 1 overall athlete by the Tennessee Titans, whose new general manager, Mike Borgonzi, has said that they won’t pass on a “generational talent” with the top pick.
Carter could pass for the description given that Enriquez’s analysis of the EDGE reads:
“Carter displays incredible athleticism and quickness off the edge. He generates pressure with an aggressive burst and strong pursuit. Carter is a Brian Burns clone; he stays fluid and is developing an increasingly impressive variety of pass-rush moves.
“They don’t fix the entire roster in Round 1 but land a staple on their defense for years to come.”
He made 68 total tackles in his 2024 campaign, 43 of which were solo. He defended four passes and tallied 12 sacks to go along with an FBS-best 23.5 TFL.
