‘Pulled a Wemby’ – WNBA World Reacts As Fever’s Caitlin Clark Skips Media After Disappointing Performance

Caitlin Clark was criticized by the WNBA community after skipping media following the Indiana Fever's loss to the Golden State Valkyries.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered a 90-88 defeat to the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday, putting a damper on what was a record-breaking night for the superstar.

Despite scoring 16 points and becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to record 1000 points and 500 assists, Clark attracted criticism for not taking part in the post-game media availability.

WNBA World Criticizes Caitlin Clark For Skipping Media Duties After Indiana Fever Loss

The 16-point haul marked Clark’s lowest points tally so far this season. She shot 3-of-12 from the field and had 5 turnovers as the Valkyries spoiled her historic night. The 24-year-old declined to speak to reporters after the game, and fans shared their thoughts, many criticizing her for skipping media duties.

One fan compared her to Victor Wembanyama, who was handed a warning by the NBA for violating media access rules following the San Antonio Spurs’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

It remains to be seen whether Clark could face a similar punishment from the WNBA. A reason was not given for Clark missing her post-game media availability by her team.

“Lmao, CC pulled a Wemby,” they wrote on X.

A sports photographer had a one-word reaction to Clark’s decision to skip media duties simply writing, “Weak.”

A third fan claimed that they were not impressed by Clark amid claims that her arrival in the WNBA would take the league to the next level.

“I was told she was gonna change the WNBA game. It’s year 3 and I’m not impressed,” they wrote.

Another user criticized Clark by commenting, “Coward.”

Clark remains a polarizing figure in the WNBA. She has quickly established herself as one of the best players in the league. However, some have claimed that she receives special treatment from the WNBA.

Meanwhile, Clark is enjoying another strong start to the season, averaging 22.5 points, 8.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game across 6 games.

Following this frustrating loss, the Indiana Fever (4-3) will be back in WNBA action on Saturday as they take on the Portland Fire on the road.
