‘Most Exciting Player in the WNBA’ — 9-Year NBA Veteran Reveals MVP Pick, and It’s Not Caitlin Clark or A’ja Wilson

A former NBA player has named his "most exciting player" and WNBA MVP, choosing an unexpected star over Caitlin Clark and A'ja Wilson.

When WNBA MVP discussions start, Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson are almost always at the center of the conversation. Both superstars have put together outstanding campaigns, making them two of the favorites to win the award in the eyes of many analysts and fans.

But one former NBA veteran believes the race deserves a different frontrunner. After another eye-catching performance over the weekend, he threw his support behind a rising star who continues to strengthen her case with every game.

Brandon Jennings Snubs Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson While Revealing His WNBA MVP Prediction

Olivia Miles has exceeded even the loftiest expectations during her rookie season. The Minnesota Lynx guard entered the WNBA with enormous hype, but few imagined she would immediately emerge as one of the league’s most dominant players.

After outdueling Clark in Minnesota’s statement win over the Indiana Fever on Sunday, Miles’ growing list of admirers added another notable name.

Former NBA guard Brandon Jennings became the latest to shower the rookie with praise.

“Olivia Miles is the most exciting player in the @WNBA right now. She’s playing the best basketball as a rookie that I’ve seen, and they winning. Averaging 20pts, 5rebs, 5assist. 50% (FG). 38% (3FG). 87% (FT). #1 team in the WNBA. Rookie of the year & MVP,” Jennings tweeted.

Jennings’ endorsement came just one day after former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant argued that Miles, and notably not Clark or Wilson, deserves to be called the “Face of the WNBA.”

Miles backed up the growing hype with another spectacular performance against Indiana. She scored 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting, knocked down 3 of 6 attempts from beyond the arc, and added 6 assists and 4 rebounds in Minnesota’s 108-100 victory.

Matched up against Indiana’s All-Star backcourt of Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, the rookie remained unfazed. When the Fever inched to within 100-98 with just over two minutes remaining, Miles calmly responded, teaming up with Courtney Williams to make the plays that pushed Minnesota to its 10th consecutive victory.

The Lynx’s run is even more notable given that franchise star Napheesa Collier missed the first 27 games recovering from ankle surgery. Minnesota went 21-6 in her absence before Collier returned on July 22.

At 25-6, the Lynx now own the WNBA’s best record, sitting 3.5 games ahead of Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces.

Miles has also forced her way into the MVP conversation while remaining the overwhelming favorite for Rookie of the Year. If she captures both awards, she would become the first player since Candace Parker in 2008 to accomplish the rare double. Parker averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game during that historic season.

The season still has roughly two months left, but Miles is rapidly turning what once seemed improbable into a legitimate possibility. If she continues leading the league’s top team at this pace, the debate may soon shift from whether she deserves Rookie of the Year to whether anyone else truly has a stronger case for WNBA MVP.
