Who Is Tony Romo’s Wife? All About Candice Crawford Romo

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo enjoyed a remarkable pro football career.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection threw for 34,183 yards, 248 touchdowns, and 117 interceptions during his NFL tenure. He ranks inside the top 40 in career passing yardage and top 25 in terms of touchdowns thrown, as per Pro Football Reference.

One of the common knocks on Romo during his playing career was a lack of playoff success. The longtime Cowboy was known for gaudy regular-season stats and abrupt playoff exits. He won just two of his six career postseason starts. Romo never advanced to an NFC Championship Game, let alone a Super Bowl.

But he’s gone on several deep playoff runs in his post-playing career as a broadcaster. According to Sports Illustrated, Sunday’s Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will mark the third time that Romo’s called the big game alongside his partner, Jim Nantz.

Nantz is Romo’s partner in the booth, but who is his partner at home?

Who Is Tony Romo’s Wife, Candice Crawford Romo?

Ironically, Romo’s wife broke into the sports journalism industry well before he did. In fact, her work reporting in the field helped lead her to the man who was, at the time, Dallas’ star QB. According to People, Candice studied broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri.

She interned for Dallas’ CBS affiliate KTVT while in college, covering Cowboys football for a long-running program entitled “The Blitz.” She’d remain linked to the team after graduating from Missouri, working for Dallas-based CW33 TV. She hosted Dallas’ weekend sports show, “Special Edition,” in addition to other prominent local sports stories.

As you can tell, the Cowboys were something of a constant presence in Candice’s professional life. In fact, her work covering Dallas for various media outlets was what landed her an internship with the team. And that internship wound up having a colossal impact on her personal life. It was while with the team that she first met Romo.

The two began dating in 2009, married in 2011, and are now parents to three boys. Romo spoke to People in a 2012 interview about how much he valued his wife’s perspective and understanding as it pertained to his athletic career.

“If you get a great wife who understands the demands of someone in athletics, I think that’s important,” Tony told PEOPLE in 2012. “I was lucky enough to find someone like that. She’s a great mom and a great wife.”

Between her own media career and her marriage to the star quarterback, Candice has seen her fair share of the spotlight. The same can be said of her brother, Chace Crawford. The recognizable actor is best known for his work on hit television shows like “Gossip Girl” and “The Boys.”

Chace actually spoke about his sister’s relationship with Romo during an interview with Jimmy Fallon a few years back. He noted how his sister’s relationship with Dallas’ star QB left the pro-Cowboys family quite starstruck.

“I grew up in Dallas, big fan,” Chace said during a 2020 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It was very surreal to become friends with them. We were the family that took ridiculous Christmas pictures in front of the fireplace with Cowboys Starter jackets and white turtlenecks, and that’s a true story … When he became a part of our family, watching those football games became a lot more nerve-racking.”

Candice has displayed some acting chops of her own. She appeared in a Skechers commercial alongside her spouse during Super Bowl 55. It remains to be seen if she’ll make her return to the silver screen this Sunday.
