Long before Tom Brady won seven Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his first taste of competition came inside his household.
Brady hated losing from a young age, and he was extremely competitive. He had heated battles with his three sisters: Maureen, Nancy, and Julie. All three of Brady’s sisters went on to have their own athletic success, playing college sports at prestigious universities.
Get to Know Tom Brady’s Sisters
Brady’s older sister, Maureen, had a decorated softball career. She starred at Fresno State and became an All-American, leading the school to the Women’s College World Series twice. She was a dominant pitcher who led the country with 36 wins.
Hillsdale High School inducted Maureen into their Hall of Fame in 2018. Maureen once joked that the Super Bowl-winning passer was sometimes referred to as “Little Brady” or even “Maureen’s younger brother.”
However, Maureen wasn’t the only softball star in the Brady family.
Nancy delivered her own excellence on the softball diamond. Nancy was so decorated as a high school athlete that she was often featured in the local newspaper alongside her sisters.
After starring for Serra High in San Mateo, she went on to accept a scholarship to the University of California.
While at Berkeley, she got her own taste of competitive college sports. But in Nancy’s case, she faced off against Pac-10 teams such as Stanford, UCLA, and USC among others. While she didn’t match Maureen’s success at the collegiate level, she did go on to pursue graduate studies near Brady’s old home region of Boston.
Not to be outdone, Julie also played a sport at the collegiate level. While she didn’t play softball, she was a terrific soccer player who ended up playing at Saint Mary’s.
Tom Brady’s Niece, Maya, Is Also a Softball Star
Now, there’s a new softball star in the Brady family.
That would be Maya Brady, who is Maureen’s daughter. Maya produced a stellar softball career at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. This is the prep alma mater of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux (whom she went to school with).

After dominating the high school ranks, Maya went on to become a star at UCLA. She’s a three-time All-American who has won Pac-12 Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons. It’s safe to say that she’s making her mother and uncle proud.
Given the family’s athletic success, it’s easy to see where Brady’s highly competitive nature came from: the older softball stars who lived under the same roof.
