The 2023 NFL season is going to see the curtains close soon, as only Super Bowl 58 remains. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off for the chance to become (or remain, in the Chiefs case) world champions.
While the Chiefs are the technical home team, it is a neutral sight game between the two teams. Where is the game being played?
Where Is Super Bowl 58 Being Played?
Super Bowl LVIII will be played in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Allegiant Stadium. The stadium is home to the Las Vegas Raiders and was first opened on July 31, 2020, after construction began on Nov. 13, 2017.
The stadium is located on 62 acres of land west of Mandalay Bay at Russell Road and Hacienda Avenue. It cost $1.9 billion to make, making it the second-most expensive stadium in the world.
Super Bowl 58 will be the first-ever Super Bowl held in Las Vegas or the state of Nevada as a whole. It will also mark the third straight year that the Super Bowl has been played in the Western United States. The previous two were played in Inglewood, California, and Glendale, Arizona.

With neither team being from Las Vegas, there’s an interesting situation between practice facilities for both teams. Since the Chiefs are the technical home team, they are practicing at the Raiders practice facility, while the 49ers are practicing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas practice facilities.
The practice field situation has actually created a controversy between the two teams. The 49ers have complained that their practice field “isn’t up to snuff” for practices and isn’t nearly the same quality as the one the Chiefs are using.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the NFL hardness score for fields averages 78, with no field being less than 70. However, the 49ers field is being considered in the 50s. “We’ve had 23 experts out there. We had the union out there. All of them think it’s a very playable surface,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
“It’s softer than what they practiced on, but that happens,” said Goodell. “It’s well within all of our testing standards. It’s something we think all of our experts, as well as neutral field inspectors, have all said unanimously that it’s a playable field.”
