Will Levis once sparked conversations for early NFL Rookie of the Year recognition by virtue of his impressive four-touchdown-pass debut on Oct. 29.
Since then, the Tennessee Titans‘ first-year signal-caller hasn’t been able to replicate his splashy NFL debut. It’s not because of inconsistency. It’s because he’s dealing with an injury.
Why Is Will Levis Out for the Titans?
The second-round pick from Kentucky has dealt with an ankle injury.
That ailment placed Levis as “questionable” ahead of the Titans’ Sunday contest with the Seattle Seahawks.
Levis had to exit the Titans’ loss to the Houston Texans in Week 15. The Texans blitzed their cornerback Desmond King during the overtime period, but Levis’ left ankle was impacted.
Tennessee never got the chance to finish the drive, nor did the Titans get the ball back as the Texans scored on the final drive to win 19-16.
With Levis not likely to line up under center, the Titans will pivot back to the season-opening QB1 Ryan Tannehill for the Seahawks game.
Did Levis Try To Practice During the Week?
The Titans held out Levis for both Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices.
What about Friday? ESPN Titans reporter Turron Davenport reported Levis was a limited participant for that end-of-week practice.

“Levis was spotted during the team stretch period with his left ankle heavily taped along with a wrap on his left knee. Tennessee listed Levis as questionable on the injury report,” Davenport wrote.
Levis currently has tallied 1,792 yards, has completed 59% of his throws, and has thrown for eight touchdowns compared to four interceptions. But since that four-touchdown performance against the Falcons, he hasn’t thrown for more than two touchdowns in any subsequent game.
He’s also only 3-5 as a starting quarterback. Meanwhile, Tannehill has produced a 2-4 overall record this season in the final year of his current contract.
Levis, though, has thrown more touchdown passes between the two quarterbacks. The Titans are still not officially out of the postseason race. However, a loss will put them at 5-10 overall — and likely officially eliminate them from the playoffs.
