Week 13 ACC Football: What happened to Miami “The U” football?

After a horrific performance against the relatively weak Florida International Panthers, Miami football has reached a new low, while Clemson still rides on a steady road for the College Football Playoff. Let's review Week 13's ACC action.

We have now seen 13 weeks of ACC football action and it’s becoming quite clear who the elite talent in the conference is when it comes to the 2020 NFL draft.

The Clemson trio of Isaiah Simmons, Travis Etienne, and Tee Higgins have been sitting atop the draft board all season and are suspected to be high draft picks in 2020. The bottom half of the board has had a ton of movement during the course of the season. With that said, I’d suspect that if the 2020 NFL draft were held today, there would be six players selected in the first two rounds of the draft.

Those players are:

-Isaiah Simmons, Linebacker, Clemson Tigers

-Tee Higgins, Wide Receiver, Clemson Tigers

-Travis Etienne, Running Back, Clemson Tigers

-Carlos Basham Jr., Edge, Wake Forest Demon Deacons

-Hamsah Nasirildeen, Safety, Florida State Seminoles

-Marvin Wilson, Defensive Tackle, Florida State Seminoles

Here are some quick hits…

-The ascension of Carlos Basham Jr. continues. He now has 10 sacks on the season and his draft stock is soaring.

-North Carolina State defensive tackle Larrell Murchison makes his debut in the top-ten of the “ACC NFL Draft Big Board”. Murchison recovered two fumbles in week-13 and he continues to show that he is a serious NFL talent.

-Louisville running-back Javian Hawkins made his debut, coming off a 233 rushing yard performance. On the season, Hawkins has rushed for 1,278 yards and 7 touchdowns.

-We have another quarterback on the list. Wake Forest junior signal-caller Jamie Newman makes his debut on the list. He looks the part of an NFL quarterback and his play in 2019 should have teams intrigued.

-Noticeably absent from the list is Syracuse defensive end, Alton Robinson. He came into the season billed as a first-round talent; however, he has been awfully quiet in 2019.
