    Kingsbury was born in 1979, in San Antonio. He played college football at Texas Tech University, where he established himself as a prolific quarterback. Kingsbury set numerous passing records during his time with the Red Raiders, including career passing yards and touchdowns, which helped cement his reputation as a dynamic offensive talent.

    After an impressive college career, Kingsbury was selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Though he played a brief stint in the NFL, his passion for football and evolving the game quickly became evident.

    Following his playing career, Kingsbury embarked on a coaching career, starting as a quality control coach for the Houston Cougars. Kingsbury received recognition for the performance of the Houston offense in 2009 with Case Keenum at the helm.

    In 2012, Kingsbury was named the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M University. There he coached Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.

    He then returned to Texas Tech after being named the head coach. It was at Texas Tech where he coached NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes. His tenure at Texas Tech showcased his ability to develop high-powered offenses and talented quarterbacks.

    Kingsbury’s success at the college level led to his hiring as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. Kingsbury stayed with the Cardinals for three years until he was fired and decided to head to Los Angeles to join the USC Trojans as a senior offensive analyst under head coach Lincoln Riley in April 2023.

    At USC, Kingsbury worked closely with yet another superstar quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner, Caleb Williams.

    How Long Has Kingsbury Been the Commanders’ Offensive Coordinator?

    On Feb. 5, 2024, Kingsbury was hired by the Commanders as the offensive coordinator under head coach Dan Quinn.
