Who Could the Washington Commanders Draft in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Note: The draft order for the 2025 NFL Mock Draft was derived from my record and playoff predictions for the 2024 NFL regular season.

8) Washington Commanders: Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

As good as Terry McLaurin is, Washington needs more firepower for Jayden Daniels. And the Commanders are at a point where they can swing for the fences with a pick like Luther Burden III.

At 5’11”, 208 pounds, Burden’s most marketable trait is his electric RAC ability, but he’s also a stalwart, instinctive vertical threat — something Daniels can take advantage of.

2.40) Washington Commanders: Barrett Carter, LB, Clemson

If the Commanders choose not to bring back Bobby Wagner, Barrett Carter makes sense as a successor. Though he’s not a MIKE yet, he can be an effective WILL alongside Frankie Luvu with his athleticism and versatility at 6’0″, 233 pounds.

3.72) Washington Commanders: Terrance Brooks, CB, Illinois

At around 6’2″, Terrance Brooks has the length and physicality Dan Quinn prefers in his CBs, and Brooks also offers exceptional overall coverage mobility.

Rounds 4-7

4.105) Ajani Cornelius, OT, Oregon
5.137) Kamren Fabiculanan, S, Washington
6.169) Ethan Burke, EDGE, Texas
7.201) Matthew Bedford, OL, Oregon

Commanders 2025 NFL Mock Draft Analysis

If you look closely at the Commanders’ roster, it isn’t actually that far away from being a respectable unit. Seeing growth from Jayden Daniels is the first step, but the offensive line was adequately supplemented in 2024, and the front seven on defense is very strong.

The Commanders only need a few more things to re-enter the playoff hunt: Daniels needs more weapons, the defense needs a bit more long-term security past the front, and the secondary needs an infusion of talent and reliability.

The latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft at PFN attempted to fulfill all of these requirements.

The first pick was easy. Burden can be a true three-level threat for Daniels opposite McLaurin. And especially in the midst of Jahan Dotson’s disappearance, McLaurin needs all the help he can get.

Burden can be schemed touches with his hyper-elite explosiveness and agility, but he also has the body control, authoritative catch-point instincts, and the proportional length to capitalize on the go-balls and fade opportunities Daniels likes to test so often.

In the rounds that followed, the Commanders checked the remaining boxes. Carter is a chess piece at LB. Brooks is a young CB with great athleticism, length, and competitiveness. And on Day 3, Washington got impressive value.

Ajani Cornelius can be a developmental right tackle with starting upside. Kamren Fabiculanan has the size and physicality to fit Quinn’s scheme at safety. Burke is a premier power generator, and Bedford has positional versatility on the line.
