Tyreek Hill Injury Update: Dolphins WR Dealing With Hand Issue as Regular Season and Fantasy Drafts Approach

Dolphins star WR Tyreek Hill appears to be dealing with an injury with Week 1 on the horizon. Here's the latest on the first-team All-Pro.

The Miami Dolphins‘ best player appears to be dealing with an injury with Week 1 on the horizon.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill wore a brace on his right hand during Miami’s practice on Tuesday, according to Barry Jackson and Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. He didn’t catch any passes during today’s session.

Update: On Wednesday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Hill was kept out of team drills for precautionary reasons.

Tyreek Hill Injury Update

Hill participated in individual drills on Tuesday, but that was the extent of his work, per Jackson and Kelly.

ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe referred to Hill’s injury as “minor,” noting that head coach Mike McDaniel has exuded action with many of Miami’s injured players.

Hill did not play in either of the Dolphins’ first two preseason games. It’s unclear when he may have injured his hand.

The Dolphins will conduct a joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday before completing their preseason against the Bucs on Friday.

McDaniel is scheduled to meet with the media tomorrow and should offer an update on Hill’s status.

As Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley wrote this week, Miami is dealing with a bevy of wide receiver injuries.

Jaylen Waddle hasn’t practiced in weeks. Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t practiced at all. And rookie Tahj Washington is out for the season after getting hurt in OTAs.

The Dolphins’ season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars is in 19 days.

Hill’s Fantasy Outlook

The Dolphins’ offense is often described as one of the most explosive units in the league because McDaniel uses a plethora of speedy playmakers in revolutionary ways. No player fits the description of speedy or explosive more than Hill.

Since Hill arrived in Miami in 2022, his fantasy football floor has been 119 receptions for 1,700+ receiving yards — objectively outstanding by any metric you can find.

A serious Hill hand injury would significantly impact the Dolphins’ fantasy outlook for their Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars. Waddle would instantly become a top-10 WR option, while running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane could see a slight bump.

This development would negatively impact Tua Tagovailoa, whose fantasy ceiling would be slightly lowered by losing his go-to option in the passing attack.
