Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Hints at Double Standard Over Lack of Jay Cutler Arrest Coverage by Media Outlets

The Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill sees a stark contrast in the media coverage and narrative after Jay Cutler gets arrested on multiple charges.

Tyreek Hill made news hours before the Miami Dolphins were set to play their season opener by being detained. However, the wide receiver is unhappy that the former Dolphins QB isn’t getting the added attention after being arrested.

Quarterback Jay Cutler played only one season with the Dolphins (his last). However, the 41-year-old still has a legendary status for the Chicago Bears fans. Cutler was recently arrested on multiple charges.

Tyreek Hill Doesn’t Like the Hypocrisy After Jay Cutler’s Arrest

As per TMZ, Cutler was involved in an accident on Thursday evening in Franklin, Tenn. The police reported the accident despite Cutler’s insistence on not involving the police. When the police arrived, states TMZ, they found the former QB in an intoxicated state.

Cutler refused any of the on-field sobriety tests and later admitted to consuming alcohol. His vehicle was also searched. A rifle in the backseat and a loaded Glock handgun in the center console were found, after which the QB was arrested.

However, “Cheetah” had issues with Cutler’s arrest not receiving wall-to-wall coverage as his brush with the law was done by the media house. The 2020 Super Bowl winner took to X (previously Twitter) to air his grievances.

“I don’t see no media outlets talking about what just happened with former QB,” he tweeted.

Cutler spent a few hours in the Tennessee jail on Thursday, posted the $5,000 bail bond later that night, and was released. Cutler will have to make a court appearance in January 2025.

Why Did the Miami Police Detain Hill?

Hours before the Dolphins were supposed to host the Jacksonville Jaguars, the WR was involved in an incident with Miami’s police. He was stopped initially for not wearing a seatbelt, but the matter escalated quickly after Hill objected to the police officers continuously knocking on his sports car’s window.

The initial cordial interaction started getting ugly as seen in the since-released body cam footage. Hill rolled up his windows and complied only partially with the officers’ requests. The police dragged Hill out of his car, handcuffed him, and detained him on the sidewalk.

The detaining officer Danny Torres has been put on administrative duty as an internal investigation into the actions of the Miami-Dade Police is underway.
