The signing of C.J. Beathard from the Dolphins has NFL fans wondering about Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence's status with the team.

Trevor Lawrence is set to have added competition in the quarterback room as the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in another QB.

Former Miami Dolphins practice squad member C.J. Beathard has been added to the Jaguars’ active roster. Meanwhile, NFL fans can’t help but crack jokes at Lawrence’s expense.

C.J. Beathard Joins Jaguars as Trevor Lawrence’s Issues Keep Mounting

Earlier this year, the Jaguars made Lawrence one of the top-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. However, on the field, Jacksonville has continued to struggle with a record of 2-7.

After last week’s unsuccessful outing against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Jags needed a deeper QB bench.

Thus, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter highlighted that while Lawrence is recovering from soreness after the game, the Jaguars have signed Beathard.

“With Trevor Lawrence admitting he was beat up and sore after Sunday’s loss to the Eagles, the Jaguars signed QB C.J. Beathard off Miami’s practice squad and on to their roster,” he tweeted.

Soon after this tweet went live on X (formerly Twitter), fans started hitting at the 25-year-old.

“Lawrence is cooked,” responded one fan.

“Lawrence regressed so much,” added one fan.

“Bro is getting benched,” another fan added.

“Don’t admit that Lawrence. You don’t wanna turn to a backup,” one fan replied.

“Lawrence is so soft,” tweeted a fan.

“I don’t think Lawrence is him anymore,” added another.

Doug Pederson Highlights Lawrence’s Current Status

Several fans wondered about the seriousness of Lawrence’s injuries and the reason for signing Beathard despite having Mac Jones as the backup. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson cleared the air regarding those reservations.

“Trevor is sore, obviously. It gives us assurance. Mac is still [the] number two [QB] and prepares each week to play and now we’ve got another veteran quarterback on the roster,” Pederson said.

Jacksonville’s head coach also added that he won’t know until Wednesday whether Lawrence will suit up for the next game or not.

The Jaguars will welcome the formidable Minnesota Vikings for their Week 10 matchup. The Jaguars are currently 14th in the AFC to make the playoffs. As per the simulations, they will need to win this game against the Vikings to keep their hopes alive.
