Top 2025 NFL Draft Prospect Travis Hunter Follows Shedeur Sanders in Skipping NFL Combine for Colorado’s Pro Day

Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. He won the Heisman Trophy this past season for his stellar play as both a wide receiver and cornerback.

He is projected to be a top-five pick alongside his teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sanders. However, neither of them will be participating in the workout portion of the NFL Combine.

Travis Hunter Follows Shedeur Sanders’ Lead and Opts Out of the Workout Portion of the 2025 NFL Combine

Early this week, it was made official that Shedeur Sanders would not be participating in any throwing drills at the NFL Combine. Instead, he will participate in interviews and other non-physical events at the combine. He will wait to showcase his skills until Colorado’s Pro Day. This move drew significant criticism from members of the media and fans.

However, Shedeur Sanders will not be the only player from Colorado with this policy. On Thursday, the first day of the NFL Combine, it was reported on X that Travis Hunter will not be working out at the NFL Combine. Following Shedeur Sanders’ lead, he will also showcase his skills at Colorado’s Pro Day.

“Travis Hunter won’t work out at the NFL Combine like Shedeur Sanders. Instead, he will showcase his skills at Colorado’s Pro Day with Shedeur.”

This decision is a significant one, as almost all draft prospects participate in the NFL Combine. However, Hunter and Sanders have proven to be an eccentric duo, so it is not a surprise in that sense. It will be interesting to see if this has any impact on the draft stock of either Colorado player.

Heading into his first season in the NFL, there is a lot of uncertainty around Travis Hunter. While Hunter had one of the best two-way seasons in the history of college football, his status heading into the NFL is uncertain. He played both wide receiver and cornerback in college, but most pundits and analysts believe that he cannot succeed playing both positions full-time in the NFL.

While speaking to the media at the NFL Combine, Travis Hunter told reporters that it would be up to the team that drafts him to determine his primary position. However, he expressed interest in playing both positions. The general consensus among draft experts seems to be that he should play cornerback full-time but be given a package of plays at wide receiver each game.
