‘Time to Trade Brock Purdy’ – 49ers QB Skewered by Fans for Throwing Multiple Interceptions vs. Lions

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been widely criticized for throwing multiple interceptions against the Detroit Lions.

Brock Purdy’s season took a wild turn, and not in the way San Francisco 49ers fans were hoping. After another strong season, Purdy hit a wall against the Detroit Lions, tossing multiple interceptions.

Social media was predictably unforgiving. Fans reckoning with Purdy’s future grew uneasy with each errant throw, leaving a sour taste after the 40-34 loss.

Brock Purdy’s Struggles Fuel Fan Backlash

Purdy’s magic ran out against the Lions, and fans are not holding back. After throwing two interceptions, both to safety Kerby Joseph, social media erupted with criticism.

“Time to trade Brock Purdy,” one fan posted, reflecting on frustration from the rough game.

Purdy’s struggles didn’t stop there.

On one possession, he threw an interception to Joseph, only for it to be called back due to pass interference — then did it again on the very next play.

Fans couldn’t believe it. “Purdy really completed back-to-back interceptions to Kirby Joseph,” Warren Sharp joked.

But the reactions weren’t just about this game. Some are still struggling to accept that Purdy is a Super Bowl starter, and many don’t believe he could do it again — especially with a new contract on the way.

Perhaps more concerning is Purdy’s recent trend of throwing late-game interceptions.

“Three straight games Brock Purdy has thrown a dagger interception to lose the 49ers a game,” one fan posted.

The interceptions came during key moments in each game, with the 49ers hoping to overcome adversity against the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and now the Lions.

“That’s on Purdy. Love the kid. But throwing the ball a lot doesn’t automatically mean you’re getting intercepted,” one commenter wrote.

With Purdy’s recent struggles, San Francisco is at a crossroads. At some point, the 49ers must decide whether he’s a true franchise quarterback.

Purdy’s Injured Elbow Could End His Season

Purdy’s elbow is throwing a wrench into the end of the 49ers’ season. As NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported, Purdy is dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm, and the Niners are sending him for testing on Tuesday.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan, keeping things close to the chest, wasn’t sure if Purdy would even suit up for Week 18.

This is a tough blow for the Niners, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Purdy has been a key cog in San Francisco’s machine since taking the reins as Mr. Irrelevant, but we might see a backup calling the shots in Week 18. Purdy’s elbow injury — the second of his career — adds intrigue to his looming contract negotiations.
