Teddy Bridgewater had a career season in 2020, but his fantasy football outlook changed once the Carolina Panthers traded multiple draft picks to the Jets to acquire Sam Darnold. So, will Bridgewater be a value at his ADP after being dealt to the Denver Broncos?
Teddy Bridgewater’s fantasy outlook for 2021
Bridgewater threw for 3,733 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions last year. He finished with a completion percentage of 69% and averaged 7.6 yards per attempt (both career-highs).
Bridgewater finished as a QB1 in five games last season and averaged 19 fantasy points per game. Meanwhile, Denver has played musical chairs at the quarterback position since 2015, when Peyton Manning was under center.
The rumors earlier this year of Aaron Rodgers being traded to the Broncos did not come to fruition. Therefore, Bridgewater will compete with Drew Lock for the starting job. In 13 games last season, Lock threw for 2,933 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. It was a step back for Lock in his second season despite the Broncos being blessed with a plethora of receiving weapons.
Surrounded by a smorgasbord of offensive weapons
Wide receiver Courtland Sutton missed most of 2020 due to a torn ACL. In 2019, he finished with 124 targets, 72 receptions, 1,112 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns. As a rookie last year, Jerry Jeudy caught 52 of 113 targets for 856 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.
In addition, tight end Noah Fant set career highs in targets (93), receptions (62), and receiving yards (673). Fant ended with 62 receptions for 673 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Broncos should also have a solid running game in 2021 with veteran Melvin Gordon and rookie Javonte Williams. Furthermore, Denver will have a high percentage of their starters on the offensive line returning this season.
Fantasy projection
Even after claiming the starting role, there is no guarantee Bridgewater keeps it. He currently projects for around 330 pass attempts, 200 completions, 2,500 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 10 games in 2021. He’s a low-end QB2 when acting as the starter.
Teddy Bridgewater’s ADP
On Sleeper, Bridgewater has generally been going undrafted in half PPR, 1QB formats. His ADP is 158.9 in Superflex formats. OVer on Fleaflicker, his 1QB ADP is also outside of the generally drafted range. Over the last few days, we have seen Bridgewater’s ADP rise to 244.81 as the QB31 on the high-stakes National Fantasy Championship platform.
Should you draft Bridgewater in 2021?
Now he has been named starter there is some intriguing fantasy value for Bridgewater. His ADP will naturally increase in superflex formats after being named the starter, but not significantly enough he would not be a value as a low-end QB2/high-end QB3.
