The New Orleans Saints are well on their way to a 2-0 start after dominating the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but they could be without one of their most versatile players heading into the third week of the NFL season.
Tight end/offensive weapon Taysom Hill suffered a chest injury in Week 2 and was listed as doubtful to return. What’s the latest on Hill’s status?
What Happened to Taysom Hill?
It’s unclear when Hill suffered his injury on Sunday, but the Saints announced that he was doubtful to return late in the third quarter.
New Orleans was already winning 41-19 by that point. While we don’t know the severity of Hil’s injury, the Saints may have felt comfortable letting him sit for the rest of today’s game with the game all but in hand.
Head coach Dennis Allen said in his postgame news conference that Hill went to a local hospital for further evaluation of his chest injury, according to ESPN’s Katherine Terrell. Allen said he believed Hill’s hospital trip was precautionary.
Taysom Hill went to the hospital for a chest injury. Dennis Allen wouldn’t elaborate about what exactly that meant. He said it was more precautionary than anything, probably to get more imaging.

Hill lined up almost everywhere in New Orleans’ Week 1 victory over the Carolina Panthers. He took five carries for 35 yards and brought in one of two targets for one yard.
Hill had rushed three times for 18 yards and caught one pass for one yard before departing in Week 2.
Fellow Saints tight ends Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson could be in for more work if Hill is sidelined moving forward, although neither offers Hill’s flexibility.
Fantasy Implications of Hill’s Injury
From PFN Fantasy Analyst Kyle Soppe: The TE position has been brutal in the early going this season, increasing the value of a weapon like Hill that can offer value in a handful of ways.
As efficient as the Saints have been this season, they’ve been doing it in ways that don’t really introduce Hill — or the TE position at all, for that matter. Whether or not you think this offense can continue to produce at elite levels, the concentrated nature of things makes it tough to count on any non-featured option.
When Hill left, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Alvin Kamara had accounted for 242 of New Orleans’ 243 receiving yards.
