Super Bowl Champion Argues Steelers Players ‘Are Already Sick of Aaron Rodgers’ as He Drags Out Free Agency

Are the Pittsburgh Steelers sick and tired of waiting for four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on his football future?

The longer Aaron Rodgers waits to decide on his football future, the more the teams pursuing him remain at a competitive disadvantage.

Rodgers has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Giants throughout free agency, yet the four-time NFL MVP remains unsigned. He’s still weighing his options, but Rodgers’ indecision may be starting to rub some players the wrong way.

ESPN’s Chris Canty Says Steelers Players Sick of Aaron Rodgers

Chris Canty spent 11 seasons chasing down NFL quarterbacks as a defensive end. He knows how players at that position think and understands the pulse of a locker room. His intuition tells him that some members of the Steelers are growing tired of waiting on Rodgers.

It’s time for Rodgers to make up his mind. Does he want to play for Pittsburgh or not? His indecision could be delaying how the Steelers construct their 2025 roster.

Speaking on ESPN’s “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” show, Canty ranted about the situation when co-host Evan Cohen asked, “Are the Steelers players already sick of Aaron Rodgers?”

Canty didn’t hesitate, “Yes. And I’m not blaming Aaron Rodgers for this because I think he’s entitled to take his time, but he is putting them at a competitive disadvantage.

“There are 30 other teams around the NFL who know who their starting quarterback is going to be or at least have a firm plan on how to get their starting quarterback, that are moving forward in that direction.

“Right now, the Steelers, the Vikings, the Giants … they’re in a holding pattern. And it’s up to Aaron Rodgers to decide when they are coming out of that, seemingly.

“I get why Cam Heyward would be frustrated by that because progress is not being made. Even though there aren’t any games and the offseason program hasn’t started, you’re behind in terms of planning how you’re going to put together your roster because you don’t know what you’re doing at quarterback.”

Cam Heyward Sends Stern Warning to Rodgers

Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward appeared to send an ultimatum to Rodgers during an appearance on his “Not Just Football” podcast. Heyward called out Rodgers, making it clear he wouldn’t be upset if the quarterback chose another team. As far as the seven-time Pro Bowler is concerned, the decision is simple.

“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap,” Heyward said. “Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple, that’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers — if you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”

It’s hard to argue with Heyward. If the choice is between the Steelers and the Giants, the answer should be obvious — if Rodgers is still motivated to win.

In 14 seasons with Pittsburgh, Heyward ranks fourth all-time in games played and second all-time in sacks. After years of dedication to the franchise, it’s easy to see why he has little patience for Rodgers’ indecision.
