Premier League Star Told To Emulate Ronaldo

Over the last few weeks, Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has popped up as an interesting topic of discussion. His brother, Jordan, recently wore a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ T-shirt at a Premier League match to highlight the Red Devils star’s lack of game time.

When asked to opine on Mainoo’s current situation at his boyhood team, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim urged the 20-year-old to follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo.

“Kobbie needs to fight for his job. I think that is not a bad thing to be on the bench of Manchester United when you are 20 years old. I remember Ronaldo was on the bench, (Wayne) Rooney was on the bench sometimes. (Juan Sebastian) Veron was not playing. I remember all the history of Manchester United. So, let’s continue in trying to avoid the nonsense and the noise,” Amorim recently told reporters (via Manchester Evening News).

Ronaldo, who played 346 overall matches for Manchester United, started just 15 of his first 30 league appearances for the Red Devils between 2003 and 2004. In comparison, Mainoo has started 12 of his 29 Premier League appearances since Amorim’s arrival at his club.
