A string of tough losses or losing seasons can make NFL fans act irrationally. Fans dedicate their time and money to supporting their favorite teams and when they’re let down it’s easy to get pushed beyond the breaking point. Social media has made it easier than ever for rival fans to pile on when someone is down, and former ESPN and FS1 hot-take artist Skip Bayless is no exception.
The long-time sports reporter has been a well-known Dallas Cowboys fan but he’s reached his limit and recently switched allegiances to the Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles. NFL fans took to X to give him the business.
Skip Bayless Abandons Cowboys for Eagles
“It’s your fault, Jerry Jones! You made me do this!” Those were the concluding words of a four-minute-long declaration by Bayless where he (once again) threw away his Cowboys gear and adopted Philadelphia as his new team.

Bayless, like many Dallas fans, has wallowed in the Divisional Round or Bust version of the Cowboys for the last 29 years.
The previous four years have been particularly tough. The team put up three straight 12-win seasons, one playoff win, and two home Wild Card losses, and then a 7-10 dud in 2024.
There’s been nothing but turmoil since the season ended with Mike McCarthy’s contract expiring, Deion Sanders withdrawing his name from the head coach candidate pool, and multiple legendary Cowboys speaking out about their displeasure. Jerry Jones loves it when his team is in the news, but this can’t be what he imagined.
Bayless had been a long-time Cowboys fan but finally broke under the nearly three decades of futility, and NFL fans took to X to let him hear about it. Responses ranged from joy in seeing Bayless crumble to fear (by Philadelphia fans) that the commentator would now curse their favorite team.

Maybe he’s playing the long game and trying to curse the Eagles or maybe he’s finally lost it, but Bayless and Cowboy fans have been desperate for a while.
Another fan responded, “Aint no way man. Skip is spiraling.”

Many fans had a problem with Bayless putting the Eagles jersey on while still wearing a Cowboys hat with one saying, “Wearing a cowboy hat & Hurts Jersey at the same time is nasty work. Throw that hat away.” While another responded, “Take the hat off!!!”
One fan had a longer reaction to Bayless wearing gear for both teams, “For someone who’s a huge cowboys fan and is so superstitious that he locks himself in a room away from everyone this is an interesting choice …. And also you give up talking sports rocking an eagles jersey and a cowboys hat.” Bayless will need a new profession according to this fan.
However, two responses stood out above the rest. Bayless developed an over-the-top TV persona over the years which made one fan believe he was introducing a new bit. The fan responded, “New gimmick just dropped.”

In 2016 Bayless teamed up with Hall-of-Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe on “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” and the two developed a heated on-screen relationship. Sharpe left the show in 2023 after Bayless claimed Sharpe was jealous of Tom Brady because of Brady’s longevity.
Like many NFL fans, the three-time Super Bowl Champion has to be pleased that the Cowboys finally pushed Bayless over the edge.
