‘The Way He Catches Makes Me Mad’ — Shedeur Sanders Jokes About Playing With Dad Coach Prime

Deion Sanders played multiple roles during his NFL career from 1989 to 2005. He was a wide receiver and punt returner but was primarily a cornerback, an acrobatic athlete who kept the fans entertained throughout his career.

However, his son, Shedeur Sanders, is not a fan. The Colorado QB, who is heading to the pros in 2025, joked about how his dad could never adjust to his playing style. Speaking about his NFL Draft week plans, the younger Sanders contemplated whether he would ever want to play with his dad.

Shedeur Sanders Jokes About His Father, Coach Prime

It has been a busy week for Sanders as he prepares for the draft season and interviews with NFL teams. While discussing his diet plans and strategy on his podcast, he joked about his dad’s playing days. When asked if he would ever throw to Coach Prime, he mentioned that his dad’s playing style is very different. When it comes to running routes and catching the ball, Coach Prime has been very different those days.

“I don’t want to hurt him. I would but, doesn’t like him catching this,” Sanders said in the latest clip on his YouTube channel.

“The way he catches makes me mad. Like you, them being on the top of the route, receivers do a go route, but they be at the top of the route then they’ll outrun it. Like c’mon bruh. Now you make me look like I threw it short bro, like, and I timed it perfect. [ ] Can’t catch bro,” Sanders added.

Heading into the NFL Draft, Sanders mentioned that he won’t be attending the event in Green Bay, Wisc., since he wants to spend the moment with family and friends — and by family, he means the entire university and fans in Boulder, Colo.

“The only thing with going to the draft is I want to spend those moments with my people,” Sanders told Overtime, per USA Today. “You got to think, having everybody come out [to Green Bay], bro, it’s going to be so expensive. So cost-wise, you’re saving a lot of money.

“You get to be around your people and all that. It’s not just me that was able to get to this point. It’s like a team. It was a team thing, and it was a team of people that helped me get to where I am now,” Sanders added.

According to the current NFL Draft order, the Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick; he is projected to be a potential target at No. 1. If the franchise passes on him, the Cleveland Browns and the New Giants are next in line.

In PFSN’s latest 2025 NFL mock draft, Sanders went No. 6 to the Las Vegas Raiders.
