Shane Steichen’s Net Worth and Salary: How Much Money Has the Colts’ Head Coach Made?

Shane Steichen is entering his second season as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He was the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offensive coordinator before joining the Colts in 2023, helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII in 2022.

As a young rising coach, Steichen has every chance to carve a name for himself in the NFL. To this point in his career, what’s Steichen’s net worth, and what’s his current salary?

What Is Steichen’s Salary With the Colts?

Steichen made history as the Eagles OC as he coordinated an offense that ranked first in the NFL in rushing yards per game (153.6), rushing yards (5,224), and rushing touchdowns (57) over that time frame. It’s no wonder he caught Colts owner Jim Irsay’s eye.

On Feb. 13, 2023, the Colts hired Steichen on a six-year contract. However, unlike player salaries, coaching salaries are not public information.

Though some figures are reported, especially for a newer extension like Andy Reid’s with Kansas City, Steichen’s yearly salary is an estimate.

In 2019, Forbes placed the average head coach salary north of $6 million per year. Adjusted for rising caps and his relative youth, Steichen making around the 2019 league average is as good a deduction as you can make.

Given Steichen’s success as a coach in the NFL and collegiate levels, it’s understandable why the Colts were so intrigued by hiring an offensive mastermind. He’s known for developing quarterbacks and leading successful offenses.

With talents such as Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr., Quenton Nelson, Zaire Franklin, rookie up-and-comer Adonai Mitchell, and the promise of quarterback Anthony Richardson, we could see them in the playoffs in 2024.

    What Is Steichen’s Net Worth?

Steichen’s latest net worth is $5 million.

A former college quarterback, Steichen has been a football coach since 2007 at both the college and professional levels, where he has proven successful.

A reason for his success and notable mind as offensive coordinator is his development of Keenan Allen, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and DeVonta Smith, who all went on to get juicy contract extensions.

In 2016, Steichen coached Philip Rivers. The quarterback was among the league’s best in all statistical categories and earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections before heading to the Colts in his final years.

It is well known that Steichen is highly anticipated to do the same with his second-year quarterback out of Florida, Anthony Richardson. The AFC South has young signal-callers throughout and should prove for thrilling theater.
