The biggest issue with drafting Green Bay Packers WRs this season was that there were so many of them. Suddenly, a once-crowded receiving corps may be a consolidated target tree. What is the latest update on Romeo Doubs’ status?
As quickly as fantasy football managers added him, will they have to replace him this week?
Will Romeo Doubs Be Active in Week 5?
Saturday Update: Doubs is out for Week 5. The Packers suspended Doubs one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
This is a tricky one to navigate. Doubs is not injured. He missed practice on Thursday due to a personal matter. Out of respect for Doubs, the team did not disclose what the issue was.
First and foremost, we hope that whatever Doubs is dealing with works out as well as possible. Personal days aren’t that rare for players. However, typically it is just the one or two days to deal with something.
#Packers coach Matt LaFleur said that WR Romeo Doubs' absence is due to personal reasons. He said they were taking it day by day as to whether he would be available Sunday against the #Rams.

Head coach Matt LaFleur’s comments express uncertainty regarding Doubs’ status this week. Even without knowing the specifics, we can deduce that whatever Doubs is dealing with will take multiple days to resolve. There appears to be a chance he is able to do so by Sunday, but evidently, it’s no guarantee.
It seems unlikely that Doubs will practice tomorrow. Given that he’s not injured, his Friday absence doesn’t automatically make him unlikely to play. However, it seems like a legitimate possibility Doubs is not able to make it back to the team in time for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Doubs will almost certainly draw a questionable tag. We likely won’t know his status until late Saturday night, or possibly even Sunday morning.
Even though the game is at 4:25 pm ET, Doubs will either be with the team Sunday morning or he won’t be. It’s unlikely his status will remain up in the air until inactives are due 90 minutes before kickoff. That should afford fantasy managers enough time to pivot to an alternative in the event Doubs is unable to go.
Potential Fantasy Options With Doubs Out Include Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Wan’Dale Robinson
If we’re talking about in-house replacements, Dontayvion Wicks is the obvious answer. To be candid, I would flat out start him over Doubs this week.
Wicks commanded 13 targets last week, catching five for 78 yards and two touchdowns. His issue has always been playing time. With Christian Watson out due to an ankle injury, and potentially Doubs as well, Wicks may very well play 90% of the snaps.

If Doubs does sit, the Packers will need someone else to step up. Their current WR5 is Bo Melton. He would elevate to WR3 with two starters out. He had some moments last season, catching six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in Week 17. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend Melton, but he’s a desperation deep-league option.
Looking outside the Packers, Wan’Dale Robinson is a great alternative. He’s scored at least 9.8 fantasy points in every game this season. He’s seen 22 targets over the past two weeks and is a viable WR3 in Week 5.
Some other options to consider are Josh Downs, Xavier Legette, and Tre Tucker.
