Although the numbers for Romeo Doubs in his second NFL season were an improvement from his 2022 rookie year, they were still just average overall. That is, of course, until the playoffs came around, where Doubs became a stud wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers.
In terms of fantasy football value, will another improvement in Year 3 mean Doubs is putting up more appealing numbers for fantasy managers? Or is he destined to just be a middle-of-the-road wideout?
Here is Doubs’ fantasy outlook for the 2024 season.
Romeo Doubs’ Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
Although some of the increases were small, Doubs saw a definite improvement in 2023. For example, his targets increased from 5.2 per game as a rookie to 5.6 last season, and his receiving yards per game ballooned from 32.7 to 39.6.
Other improved statistics were a little more significant. Doubs’ yards per reception average bumped from 10.1 to 11.4, and he tied Jayden Reed for a team-high eight touchdowns, more than doubling his first-year production (three TDs).
But Doubs’ performance in the playoffs likely has fantasy managers weighing their options when deciding whether or not to select the wide receiver.
Doubs had an impressive performance in last year’s Wild Card win over the Dallas Cowboys, catching six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown. He followed that effort with another solid game in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, catching four passes for 83 yards.
In total, Doubs finished his two playoff games with 10 receptions on 12 targets with an 83% catch percentage, recording 234 yards — an average of 23.4 yards per reception.
With another season of Jordan Love coming up, Doubs appears to be in prime position to show more improvement in his third NFL season.
Is Doubs a Good Fantasy Pick?
Doubs enters the 2024 season slotted as the No. 54 wide receiver in Pro Football Network’s 2024 Fantasy Football Rankings. He is the third-highest-ranked Packers WR behind Reed (WR34) and Christian Watson (WR49).
Doubs led Green Bay with 96 targets last year; if dependability matters for fantasy managers, give the advantage to Doubs, as he played in all 17 games last season (and started in 16).
While Reed has the higher wide receiver ranking among the Packers, he managed just two touchdown receptions.
Watson was a bigger deep ball threat (15.1 yards per reception), but he missed eight games last season and didn’t have a single TD catch.
If you believe that Doubs’ play in the playoffs was a sign of things to come this season, then by all means, consider taking him.
But if you think he’ll put up the same average numbers he’s produced in the regular season, it’s better to look elsewhere for receiver help.
