The Green Bay Packers have had a line of great receivers come through their organization over the years.

From Sterling Sharpe to Antonio Freeman to Donald Driver to Jordy Nelson to Davante Adams, the Packers have had prolific wide receivers throughout the Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers eras.

With Jordan Love looking like the Packers’ quarterback for the next 15 years, it’s paramount for the team to develop their next prolific wide receiver. There are a lot of good receivers on the Packers heading into 2024, but Romeo Doubs may turn out to be the best of them.

Let’s take a look back at Doubs’ college career at Nevada and how he got to potentially be the Packers’ No. 1 wide receiver in 2024.

Where Did Romeo Doubs Play College Football?

Doubs played college football at the University of Nevada, Reno. He played four seasons from 2018-21, playing in 44 games.

    Romeo Doubs’ College Stats

Doubs had a really good college career at Nevada, playing four seasons for head coach Jay Norvell. The Wolf Pack were bowl eligible in all four seasons Doubs was there, going 2-2 in those games.

Doubs’ career got off to a solid start in 2018 with 43 catches for 562 yards and a touchdown. He got better as the season progressed, posting back-to-back 100-yard games in his 10th and 11th games in 2018. His only two touchdowns that season came against Colorado State on Nov. 10, a game where Doubs also hauled in eight catches for 120 yards.

Doubs doubled his touchdown total in 2019 while also increasing his receiving yards to 649. That season included a four-game stretch where Doubs had 491 receiving yards on 25 receptions with two touchdowns.

In a 2020 season heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Doubs posted his best season with 1,002 yards and nine touchdowns on 58 receptions. If you stretch those numbers out over a 14-game season, Doubs was on pace for 90 receptions for 1,559 yards and 17 touchdowns. Not to mention, Doubs had nine touchdowns and over 100 receiving yards in each of his first five games.

Doubs’ final season, in 2021, was his best year at Nevada. He set career-highs in receptions (80), yards (1,109) and touchdowns (11). He reached those numbers in only 11 games.

Over a 14-game season, Doubs was on pace for 102 receptions for 1,411 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was incredibly consistent in 2021, hauling in a touchdown in seven straight games to close out his season.

Doubs’ best game was a 19-reception, 203-yard, and touchdown game at Fresno State.

    When Was Doubs Drafted?

Doubs was drafted in the fourth round, 132nd overall, by the Packers in 2022. The Packers drafted Doubs to help them replace Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders that offseason.

Doubs joined the Packers’ young receiving corps, which lacked experience. While they didn’t mesh with Aaron Rodgers particularly well in 2022, Doubs and Green Bay’s receivers did mesh well with Love in the second half of the 2023 regular season, and in the playoffs.

His rookie contract runs through 2025 and is worth up to $4.3 million, with $683,916 guaranteed. Doubs is coming off a solid 2023 campaign in which he had 59 catches for 674 yards and tied for the team lead with eight touchdowns.
