This morning, you may have seen something on your social media feed about legendary NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski jumping out of a helicopter into the ocean. Let’s break down everything you need to know, including why he’s doing this, how to watch, and more.
Rob Gronkowski’s Helicopter Jump for Veteran’s Day
In Week 10, “Fox NFL Sunday” will be held from Naval Base San Diego in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 10, 2024. This is an annual tradition, but Fox’s NFL pregame show has some special segments planned for this year’s edition.
The main event is Gronkowski jumping out of an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter into the Pacific Ocean. But the Fox crew will also get a taste of Navy SEALs training and visit the Navy’s iconic I Bar (the bar that was featured in “Top Gun: Maverick”), and reporter Tom Rinaldi will tell the story of a former Navy SEAL who now makes his living in the NFL.
“Fox NFL Sunday” gets underway at 11 a.m. ET on Sundays.
“This is the time of year our entire network collectively looks forward to honoring and saluting our troops here at home and stationed across the world,” said FOX Sports’ Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer.
“We can’t wait to spotlight Naval Base San Diego as FOX NFL SUNDAY prepares to pays tribute to all those men and women who bravely sacrifice and defend the core values of our country.”
Last year, Fox’s Veterans Day special was broadcast from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. Gronkowski skydived and celebrated his successful landing with a Gronk Spike.

“Today, we celebrate our nation’s veterans for their service and stewardship of the next generation of warfighters,” said Vice Adm. Brendan McLane, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
“We honor our heroes and their families during the FOX Sports Veterans Day Show at Naval Base San Diego with a long, proud tradition as home to the U.S. Navy.”
