The new NFL league year has officially begun, and the Las Vegas Raiders continue to bolster their offense. New general manager John Spytek has been busy this offseason, extending four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby and trading for quarterback Geno Smith.
One of the biggest weaknesses for the Raiders in 2024 was their rushing attack, and Spytek addressed that by signing a 10-year veteran running back in free agency.

Raiders Sign RB Raheem Mostert in Free Agency
Las Vegas needs to revamp its offense after finishing No. 29 in PFSN’s Offense+ metric. The Raiders ranked 30th in turnover rate and last in EPA (expected points added) per rush, struggling after the Davante Adams trade left defenses with little reason to ease up.
Las Vegas finished last in total rushing yards (1,357) and rushing yards per game (79.8) in 2024, with Alexander Mattison leading the team with just 420 yards and four touchdowns.
To rebuild the ground game, the Raiders signed veteran guard Alex Cappa, and now, they’ve added veteran running back Raheem Mostert.
FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Las Vegas has agreed to terms with Mostert.
Chip Kelly signed Raheem Mostert as an undrafted free agent in 2015 with the #Eagles and brought him to San Francisco in 2016. Now, in 2025, he’s bringing him to Las Vegas to join Pete Carroll’s RB room on the new-look #Raiders. https://t.co/JER3SKceXh

Schultz initially broke the news, tweeting, “Sources: The #Raiders are signing former #Dolphins Pro Bowl RB Raheem Mostert to a one-year contract. The 10-year veteran had 1,012 rushing yards and a league-leading 21 total touchdowns in 2023. A big addition for Las Vegas’ offense. Mostert reunites with Chip Kelly on a deal negotiated by @EquitySports CEO Chris Cabott.”
Mostert’s Journey From Undrafted Free Agent to Pro Bowl RB
Mostert entered the NFL undrafted in 2015, bouncing between four teams before landing with Chip Kelly’s San Francisco 49ers in 2016. He remained with the team when Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach, eventually becoming a key contributor.
Mostert later followed Mike McDaniel to the Miami Dolphins in 2022, and in his first two seasons with the team, he put up career-best numbers. In 2022, Mostert set a career-high 891 rushing yards and then beat it with 1,012 a year later. He also had 21 total touchdowns (18 rushing, three receiving) in his breakout 2023 season.
Last season, however, Mostert played in 13 games but took a reduced role behind De’Von Achane. As a result, Mostert totaled just 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 85 carries.
Now, in Las Vegas, he reunites with Kelly, as Schultz noted in a follow-up tweet.
“Chip Kelly signed Raheem Mostert as an undrafted free agent in 2015 with the #Eagles and brought him to San Francisco in 2016. Now, in 2025, he’s bringing him to Las Vegas to join Pete Carroll’s RB room on the new-look #Raiders.”

Mostert has logged 759 carries over his 10-year career, totaling 3,791 rushing yards. He agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract, and while he may not be an every-down back, he brings experience and explosiveness to help rejuvenate the Raiders’ rushing attack.
