Predicting Every Jaguars Loss in 2024: Projecting How Trevor Lawrence and Co. Will Fare Against the Dolphins, Packers, Eagles, and More

With their 2023 late-season collapse in the past, we take a look at the Jaguars' schedule in 2024 to predict the losses they might face.

The Jacksonville Jaguars started the 2023 NFL season on a tear, at one point holding an 8-3 record and the AFC’s top seed. However, a major collapse followed, and the team missed the postseason.

2024 is a new year, though, and a strong offseason has the Jaguars ready to fight for the AFC South crown and more. With that in mind, let’s take a look at their schedule and predict what losses they might suffer.

Predicting the Jaguars’ Losses This Season

Week 1: at Miami Dolphins

This one is a tough call, but the Jaguars could suffer their first loss in Week 1. While the Dolphins might be missing their top two edge rushers, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb, due to injury and could face defensive struggles, their high-powered offense might be too much for the Jaguars to handle.

Despite bringing in a new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen, and adding a lot of new talent, which will likely improve the team’s overall unit, the Dolphins’ speed at both receiver (Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle) and running back (Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane) could pose a problem for Jacksonville, especially with the Jaguars having some question marks at cornerback.

Week 4: at Houston Texans

With C.J. Stroud running the show in Houston now, the Texans are no pushovers. The Jaguars and Texans split the series last year, and I think they’ll do it again — except this time, Houston takes their win at home. As a result, the Jaguars will drop their second game in the first four weeks, heading to 2-2 and definitely raising some early-season concerns.

In addition to the Texans’ offense led by Stroud, their defense will also provide some issues. Along with returning second-year pass rusher Will Anderson Jr., the team added Danielle Hunter to the mix, which will certainly limit Trevor Lawrence’s time in the pocket.

Week 8: vs. Green Bay Packers

Despite their early-season losses, the Jaguars will get back on track with a three-game winning streak in October. However, the Packers come to town in Week 8 and hand Jacksonville their third loss of the season, making them 5-3 at the halfway mark.

It’s very possible that Jordan Love, in his second year as a starter, will be playing the best football of his young career. The Packers will benefit from their offseason additions and the natural development of their roster, which was the youngest team in the NFL in 2023, potentially making them one of the best teams in the NFC in 2024.

Week 9: at Philadelphia Eagles

After falling in Week 8, things don’t get any easier for the Jaguars as they hit the road and travel to Philadelphia for Monday Night Football. As a result, they will suffer their second loss in a row and drop to 5-4.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ highly talented offense will put up points on the Jaguars while their pass rush and newly improved secondary will make things very tough on Jacksonville’s offense.

Week 11: at Detroit Lions

After taking down the Vikings in Week 10, the Jaguars will have to travel to Detroit and face the Lions in a game that could get ugly. These two teams faced off in Detroit a couple years ago and the Lions dominated. While the rosters are different now, this version of the Lions are scary at home.

The Jared Goff-led offense will be tough to stop, and an improved defensive backfield will make life difficult for Lawrence and his receiving core. Jacksonville could surely make this a fight, but they’ll suffer their fifth loss and drop to 6-5 heading into their bye week.

Week 14: at Tennessee Titans

Following their bye, the Jaguars took down the Texans to keep their AFC South hopes alive. However, a road trip to Nashville could provide another gut punch in 2024. The Titans might not be a very good team this season, but rivalry games on the road are never easy. Keep in mind, when the Titans hosted the Jaguars at home in 2023, they won 28-20.

If Will Levis and the offense get hot and the defense can string together enough stops, the Jaguars could falter in a game they expect to win, making them 7-6 on the season. However, that loss will be their last, meaning the Jaguars will finish the season on a four-game win streak that was much needed.

2024 Jaguars record prediction: 11-6

Potential Wild Card Games on the Jaguars’ Schedule

Week 3: at Buffalo Bills

This one could very well go in the loss column, as the Jaguars will have to travel to face the Bills early in the season. With Josh Allen at the helm, Buffalo will be dangerous week in and week out. However, after losing Stefon Diggs, Tre’Davious White, and several other veterans, the Bills might be vulnerable early in the year.

Additionally, the Jaguars tend to play their best football against the Bills. From the 2017 Wild Card round of the playoffs to their shocking win in 2021 (their second of only three wins that season), Jacksonville seems to have Buffalo’s number.

Week 15: vs. New York Jets

The Jets are one of the biggest wild cards in the NFL as a whole. After Aaron Rodgers’ injury last season, they were never the same. Now, the question is this: Can Rodgers stay healthy and return to what he once was? If he does, the Jets can surely win this game. However, if he doesn’t, it’s the Jaguars’ contest to lose.

Additionally, even if Rodgers is healthy and up to the challenge, the Jets have to head into Jacksonville for this one. Simply, it won’t be easy either way.

Week 18: at Indianapolis Colts

Similar to the Jets, the Colts’ season will be determined by the health of their quarterback. If Anthony Richardson can stay healthy and play all 17 games, he has the talent to be one of the deadliest threats in the game. The same goes for running back Jonathan Taylor.

The Colts have historically given Jacksonville some issues in Indianapolis, but that changed in 2023. However, a healthy Colts roster could arguably take down anyone.
