Yet the Eagles had limited roster spots to work with following the 2024 NFL Draft. Philadelphia has reportedly signed seven undrafted free agents, including an intriguing defensive tackle.

Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, many believed the Eagles would have had to trade up in the first round to select Quinyon Mitchell or Cooper DeJean. Yet Philadelphia was able to land Mitchell without moving at all in the first round. Then they traded up on draft’s second night to select DeJean. This is exactly why the Eagles were named one of the winners of the 2024 NFL Draft.

2025 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles Select Top Defensive Tackle

While the 2024 NFL Draft just concluded, it’s never too early to look ahead to next year. Pro Football Network Draft Analyst Ian Cummings released his first 2025 NFL Mock Draft and has Philadelphia adding some help along the defensive line.

As Cummings mentioned, the Eagles could potentially lose Milton Williams in free agency, so targeting a defensive tackle in the first round could make sense next year.

Report: Eagles Plan To Sign Mekhi Becton to One-Year Deal

It was reasonable to expect the Eagles to select an offensive tackle at some point in the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead, the team’s draft board didn’t fall that way and Philadelphia selected a pair of interior offensive linemen.

Therefore, the Eagles are reportedly planning to sign former New York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton to a one-year deal as the team’s swing tackle behind Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.
