Philadelphia Eagles Inactives: Super Bowl 59 Injury Report Includes Brandon Graham

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years and for the third time in the last eight overall.

Just like in Super Bowl 52, the Eagles are looking to become giant killers. They ended the New England Patriots’ quest for back-to-back Super Bowl titles in Minneapolis and now have their sights set on stopping the potential three-peat for the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.

The Eagles are looking quite healthy entering Sunday. Here’s a rundown of their injuries and roster notes for Super Bowl 59.

Eagles Injury Report News and Updates

    Official Inactives:

When Eagles’ defensive end Brandon Graham tore his triceps in mid-November and was placed on injured reserve, it looked like a somber end to a great career. Graham is expected to seriously contemplate retirement this offseason.

To have his career end in this fashion would have been a tough pill to swallow. Fortunately, that will not be the case.

After the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, news emerged that Graham had a chance to play in the Super Bowl. The Eagles then opened his practice window that week and Graham returned to practice.

After participating in limited fashion Wednesday and Thursday this week, Graham was a full participant in practice Friday. The Eagles then made it official Saturday by activating Graham from injured reserve.

It’s unclear how much Graham will actually play Sunday, but he is expected to get on the field. His presence alone will be a huge boost as the Eagles look for their second Lombardi Trophy.

The Eagles will also have two of their stalwarts up front in center Cam Jurgens and guard Landon Dickerson. Jurgens (back) didn’t start in the NFC Championship Game but still ended up playing after Dickerson, who started at center, injured his knee. Both practiced in full Friday and are good to go for Sunday. Neither have a game designation.

Only two Eagles players fell short of full practice participation Friday. One was DeVonta Smith (hamstring) but despite his limited status, he was not given a game designation and is all clear for Sunday.

The other was offensive lineman Nick Gates. He was originally listed as questionable with a groin injury but has now been ruled out. The Eagles placed Gates on injured reserve to make room for Graham on the roster. Additionally, wide receiver/kick returner Britain Covey (neck) and tight end C.J. Uzomah (abdomen) were not activated from injured reserve.
