The latest round of Patriots roster moves saw New England release four more players to clear room for four players claimed off waivers.

Four New England Patriots who survived roster cutdown day didn’t make it past the next day.

New England on Wednesday claimed four players off waivers: linebacker Curtis Jacobs, defensive tackle Eric Johnson, and offensive tackles Demontrey Jacobs and Zachary Thomas. The Patriots then released four players to clear space for the waiver claims.

Patriots Cut Four Players to Open Roster Spots

The following players officially were released Wednesday afternoon:

    CB Isaiah Bolden

Bolden, a 2022 seventh-round pick, missed all of his rookie season due to a head injury.

Bolden entered training camp as a roster-bubble corner with kick-return value and earned a spot on the initial roster before Wednesday’s release.

    DT Trysten Hill

A former second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, Hill spent time on New England’s practice squad in 2023.

Hill impressed this summer and appeared primed for a role as one of the top Christian Barmore replacements.

    WR Jalen Reagor

Reagor spent all of last season with the Patriots, including a late-season stint on the 53-man roster. He was consistently productive during training camp and appeared locked in as New England’s top kick returner.

    OL Michael Jordan

Jordan joined the Patriots this offseason following stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and Green Bay Packers.

Had he stayed on the roster, Jordan would’ve provided depth at both guard spots.

What’s Next for Latest Roster Cuts?

There’s still a chance that Bolden, Hill, Reagor, and Jordan stay with the Patriots.

Bolden would have to clear waivers before potentially joining New England’s practice squad. However, the other three are unrestricted free agents and can sign with the Patriots immediately if they so choose.

The Patriots on Wednesday revealed seven players who will comprise their initial 16-man practice squad. (Note: As an international pool player, Jotham Russell doesn’t technically occupy one of the 16 spots; the Patriots essentially can have a 17-man practice squad.)

All seven players played for the Patriots during training camp, with Landers signing during the final week. Whether Bolden, Reagor, Hill, or Jordan will join them remains to be seen, but we should find out during Thursday’s practice.
