FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots held their first Week 11 practice on Wednesday afternoon. Let’s go over everything that stood out during the session, including new updates on Christian Barmore and other players dealing with injuries.
Patriots Practice Attendance l Wednesday, Nov. 13
Before Wednesday’s fully padded practice, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said there was a “chance” that Barmore, who was diagnosed with blood clots in July, will practice this week or next week. He also said Barmore is “ahead” of guard Cole Strange, who is still rehabbing a torn patellar tendon suffered late last season.
Mayo didn’t provide an update on rookie tackle Caedan Wallace, who remains on injured reserve after injuring his ankle during the Week 4 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Barmore, Strange, and Wallace are all eligible to be activated off their respective injury lists at any time. However, none were on the field for New England’s first practice ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Here’s the full absence list for players either on the 53-man roster or practice squad:
- LB Sione Takitaki
- DE Deatrich Wise Jr.
- CB Marcellas Dial Jr.
- CB Isaiah Bolden
- OT Caleb Jones
- WR Braylon Sanders

Wise suffered a groin injury during last Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears, whereas Dial is dealing with a head injury. The reasons for the other four absences were unclear at the time of this writing.
Notably, safety Kyle Dugger was back on the field after sitting out all of last week. Dugger missed the last three games due to a nagging ankle injury.
Assorted Notes from Patriots Practice
- Defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, who was claimed off waivers last week, was on the field for his first practice with the Patriots. Ngakoue met with reporters before the session and said, “It’s all about perspective” when asked about going from the Baltimore Ravens, legitimate contenders, to the rebuilding Patriots, who are 3-7.

- Before practice, Mayo was asked about rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s penchant for dividing head-first while trying to pick up extra yards on scrambles. With a laugh, Mayo said the Patriots would run diving drills during practice.
- The Patriots ran pass-catcher 1-on-1 drills during the media-access portion of practice.

- Wednesday’s practice was the coldest of the season — by far. I should’ve packed a hat.
